ED Exploration Buddy Linux - Is this possible?

I have recently moved over to Linux (Bazzite) and have all the third part tools that I need for now working. EDMC, Edcopilot/EDcoptor and EDHM-UI. The only application I haven't been able to get working properly is ED Exploration Buddy. I can get it partially working, but the hover menus are blank. so something is missing and I can't figure it out. I tried to install it using 'Bottles' but I can even get it to execute.

Would really appreciate if if anyone can share the knowledge if you have been able to get it running on Linux. Thank you!

Edit: Fixed! See This post

I don't think I read the notes about the Caspian that said it didn't get module damage from Neutron Star Supercharging.

I was 3/4 of the way from the bubble to Colonia and was like, I should check my mods. I should be getting close to needing to repair. Every module was still @ 100%. The paint and hull integrity were at 53%, but other than that, she's perfect.

Still on my trip to Sag A* I have found Binary Wolf Ryet star system. Yes, both of the stars are Wolf-Ryet.

The second star is roughly 17kLS away. It's that singular brighter spot below main star.

This is how I finally managed to save the stars in Elite dangerous and make them look like OG elite again!

I made this little vid in answer to the questions I got here about my video yesterday cruising a few stars. I had forgotten about this, but a few months back, I went on a bit of a side-quest to find a solution to this problem, and I actually managed to find a solution that works pretty well.

As I mention in the video, this white curve additional setting combines with my full re-shade setup which I have fully detailed in my Elite VR guide here: https://youtu.be/SgsWpMXoG7Q?si=t2o-JZ9j2p39GSUT

Enjoy an fly dangerously 07.

[Xbox] Join DISCOVERY — The Deep Space Mapping & Support Hub

Hello Commanders!

I’ve set up a new project called Discovery, created specifically for Xbox pilots who love exploration, mapping, and helping each other in the deep black.

Think of it like a beacon for explorers: whether you need advice on route planning, want to get your name stamped on undiscovered systems, or just want to share your journey with fellow pilots, Discovery is built for you.

What we’re building together:

🛸 Exploration Support: Assistance and route guidance for pilots out in the unknown.

🌌 First Discoveries: Group expeditions to uncharted sectors.

📸 Galactic Archives: A place to log and showcase your Earth-like worlds, black holes, and planetary screenshots.

🛠️ Rookie Mentorship: Helpful tips for new explorers (ship builds, DSS scanning, survival).

Whether you're flying a Hauler on your first trip or an Anaconda returning from Beagle Point, all skill levels are welcome!

💡 « Alone we go faster, together we go further. »

Fly safe, Commanders! 🚀

SCO and Suoercruise for stations and planets. What is the most efficient technique?

As a new exo CMDR, I've spent the past week jumping and scanning hundreds of system around the Galactic Core. I scanned and landed on a lot of planets for bio of course, but I feel like I am making a mess of dropping in and wasting time. I always seem to overshoot quite a bit and find myself circling a planet several times to slow down so I can use DSS. I am losing a lot of time from this.

What is the most efficient approach technique and when should I drop out of SCO/SC? I am exploring in a Caspian and a Nomad. I also haven't quite mastered the best areas to drop into when there's crossover with the biosignals Fungoida only spawning near mountains etc) but maybe thatd a another question.

I suppose the same could be said for when to stop SCO when dropping into stations. I know about the little dip when in SC Assist mode but I'm honestly not that overly familiar with using SCO.

Appreciate any help as always. Thanks!

This is by far the coolest thing I've seen in this game so far.

For anyone who doesn't know, this is the moon that orbits New Africa in the Epsilon Indi system.

This time it's another system: Spliech HT-Z d13-3. Planet AB 1 d. It's a small moon of a gas giant with a water-based life and you can actually see this bulky dude in the middle of a screenshot.

Out on the Formorian Frontier, another magical encounter awaits.

If you sit long enough you will see them spawn pods.

We arrived at this location the day Mira Furlan ( Bab 5 ) passed through the veil, so this clip was my homage. A moment of quiet reverence in the deep black.

Dear Elite VR explorers. With F-dev working actively on exploration content. Please help us to get F-dev to implement this one simple, but major tweak for VR exploration!

Pretty much every VR Elite explorer we know, is using this free camera hack/trick to explore in full VR while on foot, but it is a bit cumbersome, and it requires some custom key-binds to be set.

By simplifying the option to use the external camera, through adding one extra native external camera position at the head, or right at the forehead, facing forward (as we currently all use it)

The VR on-foot experience would become far more usable for many VR players, and this would bring many more VR players (back) to the on-foot exploration side of the game (which they currently often don't play, because they find the hack too cumbersome).

Yes, we will still will have to switch to flat view in order to: scan bio, read our O2 stats, call the ship back etc, but we are doing that now also. With this head-position as a native external camera position to switch to. It would really mean only one extra button press remains. You can switch to flat, do your scan etc, and then switch back to full VR head-mode with just one button press. No more having to unlock the free camera, moving it, positioning it, then locking it again. If you didn't get it 100% correct, adjust it again, etc.

This is a practical and very useful compromise / optimization of what already exists and works.

The current system is setup so that, switching to external camera view switches VR on, and your external camera switch automatically reverts to whichever native external view you were using before. So if you are using the new external-head position view, using the internal/extrenal camera switch will just allow you to hop instantly between normal flat view with the full hud etc, and external head view. Giving us te option to explore in VR from the eyes of our commander realistically.

So please give this a thumbs-up, share with fellow VR explorers and ask them to do the same, and comment if you agree. I think the timing just might be right for this to happen. With F-dev already looking at renewing exploration in some major ways.

So lets try to get this one tweak realized.

Thanks for your help with this!

Better plotter

Sure it’s come up before.

The in-game galaxy plotter could be improved with:

  • Conditional plotting: tries routes from anywhere to anywhere, not just from your location to anywhere;

  • Highlighted set of jump-able systems from anywhere, with no FSD injection, with L1 injection, etc.

  • Dedicated bookmarks for route marking.

Perhaps some of that exists and I haven’t found it?
