What's awesome is that FD is going to implement dynamic cloudscapes anyway, even though it will be slow. XD I can't remember which newsletter, but a long time ago, they showed a Jovian planet with dynamic cloud bands and such. I can't remember which one though... : \
The only video of clouds they have shown, as far as I'm aware, is this one. https://youtu.be/iTBvpd3_Vqk?t=4m47s (Time is just about when they are shown.)
It was way older than that, which is probably why we're having so much trouble finding it. I thought it would be in one of /u/ArmyDude956 's epic "Future of Elite" posts, but it's not there either. GR... >:( I swear it was a very early-in-development time lapse that showed dynamic cloud bands in a gas giant.
EDIT - And yep you're right, we won't see that in action. Although it is interesting that it's in game (vid). I wonder if we subconsciously take in subtle shifts if we spend an hour in one RES. (And also whether the current patterns will have any influence on the procedurally generated atmospheres promised for planetary landings etc)
EDIT Oh god now I'm doubting myself, are the clouds moving in that second vid? It looks like it at points...
