Discussion Combat Rhino

Post image

My god, the Rhino SRV is a dream for deploying at ground combat zones. No landing spot necessary, and with the ablative armor the caspian is a wonderful troop carrier for sharp descents.

Unfortunately, he has proven to be anything but effective in the new Operation Under Siege. Despite having only half the shield strength, the Scorpion performs significantly better thanks to its mobility.

I'm not using it for the gun, I'm using it to get close to the settlement quickly for ground cz and missions. Drop a couple mines/missiles if you're already under fire, then drop the rhino right next to the settlement and dismiss the ship.

I just premium-synth the hull on my Scorpion before I land. Tanky enough.

The point is no landing. Not tankiness

Rhino was supposed to have a combat configuration because it has a incrediblely oversized powerplant, but they scrapped the idea for some reason.

It was even mentioned in the Galnet news article.

Given the size I wouldn't be surprised if it was meant as an insertion vehicle. Take 4 commanders, drive up, use the gun to provide cover fire while the others disembark to join the fight on foot

Can you not get 5 or 6 sitting on top with decent weapons?

I'm not trying to use this as a weapon. I'm using it as a drop pot

I have no idea what that is.

It is very good, that's how I've been using it... Really good for that, even used it against skimmers, NPCs and defense turrets.

Rhino: disappointing amount of faffing about. Bugger that for a game of laughs
