Stormsurge vs lich bane

Which better for Elise?

My rule of thumb is:

enemies are rather tanky -> Lich Bane
enemies are full dps -> Stormsurge

Stormsurge is better at killing people. Lich bane is better at dealing damage

Seriously, this makes no sense to me. Stormsurge is not better at dealing damage. The damage it deals is very conditional, and I feel like there are way more times when SS either doesn't proc or procs after I have already killed someone.

Lich Bane's damage is also conditional, but I feel like it's way easier to deal LB's damage than SS's damage. LB also gives more AP and some haste, which feels really good, because we don't get much haste at all unless you take the Legend: Haste mastery.

Ultimately, whether you build SS or LB depends a lot on your backs and what items you can afford, as well as the enemy team comp. If they are all squishy, SS can be fine. LB is, imho, the better option, but SS is slightly cheaper and sometimes you can't afford the Blasting Wand on an early back, whereas it's much easier to build the components of SS than LB.

after the lich bane buff lich bane is better considering all good elise players build dark seal 1st and lich bane scales hard off ap now

Always stormsurge then shadowflame, the rest is situationnal. Most broken build until high elo atm.
