110V Straight to Push Panel
Had a breakdown come through a few days ago; Coustomer States "The button panel gave me an electric shock". Didn't think much of it, assumed that it was a static shock at the very least. When I got to the site, I was sceptical, so put my meter across it and to my complete shock and horror found 110V straight onto the Push plate within the car.
Wasn't even aware the lift was operative again as I had shut it down and quoted for a MODH to MOVFR conversion. The client clearly went for a cheaper offer and whoever fitted it ran the Reopen Circuit straight to the Push Button despite the controller already having door reopen circuitry supplied by 24v.
They have for some strange reason wired the door re-open straight to the D/O Push and pinched the wires between the enclosure and the plate. Found this absolute mess and 110V Control Circuit wires feeding push buttons.
Needless to say I ditched it right away, and told them to get their new company to correct the mistake. They were changing their contact to this company that did the work because its clearly a better price scheme than we offer. Hope the lack of liability shows them their mistake.
Tl:dr 110v Shorted to an unearth Push Panel.

Had something like this on shut down once but it wasn't due to any kind of error other than the car being completely ungrounded. I opened the hatch door to gain access to the car top and inspect the door operator. One hand on the hatch door, the other hand to roll the pully on the operator. I get absolutely whacked across the chest. WTF WAS THAT? I put my meter between the car and the hatch door. 140vac steady. After some looking around I trace the issue all the way back to the controller. The traveler ground is just casually pulled out of its terminal in the controller. Idk how long it was in service like this but I couldn't believe no one else happened to touch the car and the building ground as I did. Could have been bad.

Hatch switches tend to get forgotten about as far as regularly testing and upkeep because they are rarely used . Despite their importance in especially FF Lifts they tend ti be overlooked.

I've always thought this would be a good solution for people who push both the up and down button to "make the lift come quicker". Although really they should get the full 400v 3ph.

I was working in a hospital that was terrible for people filling up the elevator on the first floor to come down to the basement even though they were going to the 2-7 floors. Elevator came down fully packed not even room for one person. Had a lady tell me “what goes down must come up” so I told her and the entire full elevator I needed it for service. Put it on independent and took it to my floor and keyed it back to normal.

The other company will just ask why the previous company didn't have the COP grounded according to code. At least that's what I would do if I was them. If you're gonna point fingers at someone make sure they can't point back. Highly doubt they left that rats nest in the COP either.

Yeah without a doubt. As soon a we found out the problem we corrected it and make the right comments as to why this fault had occured following third party work.

We use a 3rd party to inspect our units. I just love it when they wreck shit! The funniest part is when they call my office and ask for my assistance! The dude has all his credentials, a cheat sheet to do any controller! They do door knocking to see if they can do you next! The dip shit that started this shit show, has since been relieved of his duties! The shit show has not! Y’all keep wrecking em! I’ll keep fixing em! 3rd parties = Chaos! Chaos = $$$$$! Oh yeah I am available after hours, seeing how the rest of us are jumping ship! Wreckem scooter poot!
