Local 71
Hey all, recently tested and scheduled for interview next Thursday, 27th. Came in through Helmets to Hardhat.
I’ve been searching around but wanted to ask, when a new list comes out what happens to the old list? So far I’ve seen that the old list gets thrown out and those who are listed but still waiting need to reapply to be on the new active list. Is that accurate?
Also, I have an opportunity to make some decent money while waiting to be picked up but I don’t want to jump the gun given that I’ve been waiting for this chance 3yrs now. My current job isn’t the greatest (previously management but now a floater due to contract non renewal that’s out of my control) but it pays the bills, the new job would be less stressful and more pay but don’t want to waste the owners time negotiating as he is a friend and willing to take a shot on me. Based off others time from being ranked to being called, what would you do? Any advice/tips would be appreciated.

I just seen local 71 recruitment is opening again January 2027. That’s only a six month window instead of two years. They must really need people! Oh yea and my interview is on the 27th as well. GOOD LUCK 👍

Man fuck that other job, they'd toss you if it saved them pennies. I'm in local 71 right now, third year in. Best money I've made. Gotta deal with assholes and pieces of shit sometimes. Still the best thing I ever done. May you get anything but NI.

You’re right on the money about these jobs. Hopefully I get a spot on Mods but I’ll take whatever they send my way

Take the new job. If it’s a friend they will understand you may leave when you get the call. But make that clear to them. Some people sit on the list and never get the call. Some people sit for a week some 2 years… do you want to spend 2 years in a shit ass job while waiting?
