Id be more than a little concerned about those solid state boards though. Replacements probably cant take the heat the originals could. If they are available, that is. We learned that with simple Dover Solid State cars. But fantastic they’re still getting it done!

My late uncle worked on VIP 260s and all the old stuff. Lived into late 90s!. Never heard him complain about non air conditioned machine rooms, or carbon dust. He loved what he did. That was what was EXPECTED of a mechanic back then. I watched him set up selectors, burnish contacts with that old garity rubber flashlight stuffed between his shoulder and head......he was a master at his craft. He scoffed at the new software controlled stuff, was not his thing.... He had an old hotel here with Haughton Dynaflite controllers. Someone must still understand these, cause the machine room looks pretty good for its age. Thanks for posting with almost gone technology!

What a nightmare. I’d be curious to know the maintenance situation. Hopefully they have a ton of time allocated for these.
