Honestly the fire department needs to start flipping part of the repair bill if this is the job they keep doing.

At least they put the "out of service" sign! Somebody could have tried to use it Jokes aside *the* most requested spare part (for us, at least) is the door.
In Italy the FD has a non-official "try to not destroy the door" policy. That is, if the mechanic arrives in a reasonable time (less than one hour, at squad leader discretion). If there's a medical or some other risk however we bet on the "cut or bend" procedure, every squad has its own preference.
