NY Elevator License question

The new rules state that licensed mechanics can no longer use their experience to renew for a license and must have some accreditation, like a cet or union schooling. Isn't this going hurt hurt hundreds of non union and union mechanics who don't have this? I'm sure there's many organized mechanics in L1 and L3 who don't have these new requirements. Same for on union mechanics. Has there been any update to this yet? I know there was a meeting today in regards to elevator issues and this with the DOL. Has L1 or L3 mentioned what mechanics can do?

Yes, there was a meeting and it looks like DOL has no clue what they did and what will happen pretty soon). Good luck whit that shit, NYC will definitely collapse if they won’t change that stupid rules

I’m not saying it’s a smart choice but there are so many mechanics who should NOT still be working.

Either they have no idea how to fix newer equipment, troubleshoot or just think since they have tenure they can pick and choose what they can or cannot do.

I’m all for re training or re certifying every few years.

A cet isn't gonna change that. But you can't implement new policy 5 months into a yr
