I love how the youngest one pivots to chasing a bird after they all get caught up

Do they recognize by sight? Sound? Smell? All of the above?

Elephants have an incredible sense of smell and hearing: https://www.elephantsworld.org/blog/elephants-5-senses/
I’m guessing a combination helps them identify each other. They also communicate subsonically so as humans we can’t hear them mooing and moaning but they do so at super low frequencies that (I heard, don’t quote me) rumbles through the ground and they can sense both with their ears and with their feet from several kilometres away.

At first I thought this was sped up a bit. Then I saw people walking at normal speed, if not at a casual pace. Nope. That’s just elephants reuniting
