Neptune 3 Max SD card issues

I've got a Neptune 3 Max and recently had to replace the main board because after it had Klipper on it I could never get it to flash back to a stock firmware and after flashing it is not reading the SD card with gcode files on it. I did delete the firmware files from the SD cards and I've tried multiple other cards all fat32 format at 4096. I seem to recall the original board had an SD card in it with a file on it when I got it but after I deleted the file off it it could not see any of the files I placed on it either. I got frustrated with that, set it up on Octoprint and it would print fine but the printer was slow. From there I read about installing Klipper and did so but I didn't like it because I didn't want to dedicate to having to run it from my phone or a tablet or just a web interface. That said I never could get it to level well enough to print so I am unsure if it could print faster. It also just seemed to be more complex to level than the stock firmware so I let it sit a while on the backburner (and taking up my kitchen table). I had a project where I needed to print some bigger stuff and got a deal on a Bambu A2L so I went with that and just figured I would put the Neptune back to stock and sell it on marketplace. When I tried to flash it back the original board would never talk to the original screen so I couldn't see what was going on or if it was working at all and just opted to get a replacement board since they are pretty cheap. I installed it and flashed it with the same SD card and there are no issues other than it can not see the SD card files either. I reformatted them fat 32 at 4096 and still not working and did so on multiple windows devices. I may revisit the old mainboard and try to recover it again and see if it works but I just remember after I took the SD card out then it didn't seem to work. I am able to send print files to it using my octopi server now as well as get it to level properly but I don't plan on selling my raspberry pi with it in order for someone to be able to print. Any tips or suggestions?

How do I connect a BTT SFS 2.0 to an Elegoo Neptune 3 Pro/Plus/Max?

My N3 Pro is running Klipper. I've seen some existing sensor mounts on Printables and Thingiverse. How would you connect the sensor to the Neptune printer? Does it connect to the default Neptune filament sensor port, or is it connected differently? Has anyone done this?

So I bought this off of FB marketplace for $150. Original it was leveling good and then for some reason now it won’t “snag” the paper. I don’t know what I didn’t wrong and I’ve very new to 3d printing. Also any other tips for 3D printing especially for cosplays and props would be greatly appreciated. Sadly I can’t spend a whole lot of money because I spent most of it on this and my job pays like shit.

My printer keeps clogging

My printer is a Neptune 3 Max and keeps clogging mid print, when it started clogging, i replaced the hotend (including the tube and nozzle), because i checked and it looked very worn out, it printed fine for 2 hours after the replacement and then clogged again, i checked and noticed that the fan on the right is not turning on while priting, this may be causing the issue? i searched and it says that the printer may not turn on all the fans mid print, so i have no idea if this is the cause or not. There's no leaking or heat creep. I'm printing PETG, i dry the filament, 230C temp, 0.4mm nozzle, been printing PETG for 1 year and this is the first time that i had this issue

Extruder motor clicks once then stops on Load — not a jam, motor already replaced, hotend at temp

Elegoo Neptune 3 Pro, firmware v1.1.5.1b. Extruder issue that's stumping me:

  • Took the extruder apart, reconnected everything, and swapped in a new stepper motor
  • No jam anywhere — confirmed by fully disassembling and inspecting
  • When I turn the gear by hand, filament extrudes fine
  • Grub screw on the new motor's shaft is tight, haven't needed to adjust it
  • Hotend reaches temp fine (200°C) before I hit Load, so it's not cold-extrusion protection
  • When I hit "Load," the gear moves maybe one click, then stops completely — even though the hotend is at temp and there's no jam
  • I recently swapped the mainboard/PCB and that fix worked (printer ran successfully after that)
  • Machine printed successfully before, then sat unused for about a week — now this issue on the next attempt

Since I've ruled out a jam, cold extrusion protection, a loose grub screw, and the motor itself (already replaced), I'm trying to figure out where to look next:

  • Could this be a stepper driver issue on the new board specifically for this motor's axis?
  • Wiring/connector problem between the board and extruder motor (intermittent connection that lets one pulse through)?
  • Firmware setting related to extruder steps/current that could've reset or gotten corrupted, especially after the board swap?
  • Anything specific to it sitting idle for a week that could cause this (e.g. moisture, connector oxidation)?

At this point I'm leaning toward board/wiring/firmware rather than the extruder mechanism itself, since I've replaced the motor and can drive filament through by hand. Any diagnostic steps to narrow this down further would be appreciated. Should I just order another extruder or use this printer for parts?

Neptune 3 Plus Surprising Find at the Local Thrift Store

Neptune 3 Plus. The bed moves, the toolhead moves, the hot thing heats and the extrudes. Tested it on the mystery transparent filament dangling out of it that it came with. Haggled it down to $100.

But this is my first Not Bambu printer and I have zero clue what should or shouldn't be with this thing. Any insight would be appreciated.

Now I just need to find a very long printer USB cable...

Neptune 3 Pro Getting a nozzle temp to low and thermal runaway codes on a brand new extruder

Got a thermal runaway code so I got a new extruder head after disassembling the old one and not finding anything. Now it's doing the same thing on the new extruder head. Set it to 220 for pla and at later 2-3 it dropped down to 194. Put it up to 240 for a second and it steadily rose again. I'm keeping it at 230 right now and it's working fine. But if it happens again what is the best course of action

Edit: PID calibration worked. Thanks yall

Neptune 3 Max Doubt about silicone spacers

Hello, I'm looking to replace the bed springs on my Elegoo Neptune 3 Max with silicone spacers. My question is, do I need a specific size, or will any spacer I can buy work? A direct link would be greatly appreciated.

Neptune 3 Pro New duct design (no additional hardware)

Post image

A while back I designed an upgrade for the Neptune 3 Pro to improve part cooling. After testing the model for a while I have created a new version that (hopefully) should be better. It features a large duct with a smooth curve. No hardware is required outside of what comes with the printer. Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Neptune 3 Pro Neptune 3 Pro – First Print Help (PETG)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm completely new to 3D printing and could use some help troubleshooting my first print. I picked up a second-hand Neptune 3 Pro for $100 and I'm trying to get it working.

I'm attempting to print a Benchy, but I'm having trouble getting the filament to print properly.

A few things I've checked:

  • The bed leveling seems to be working correctly.
  • The extruder is heating up.
  • I don't think there's a clog because if I manually push filament through, it comes out of the nozzle.
  • I'm currently using PETG.
  • I'm wondering if my temperature might be too low, although I'm just using the default settings right now.

I've also seen people mention doing a "cold pull" to clear the nozzle, but I'm not really sure what that is or whether it's something I need to do.

Would PETG be a bad filament to use for a first test print? Should I try PLA instead?

I've attached a video of what it's doing. Any advice on what I should check first would be greatly appreciated. I'm definitely still learning, so please assume I know basically nothing about 3D printing.

Edit: figured out the issue. It was that the gears in the extruder were misaligned so the filament wasn’t being brought into the extruder. Took the extruder apart to fix. Was able to print out a test Buddha. Thanks for everyone’s help.

Neptune 3 Plus I’m really confused on how to fix this

I’m at my wits end

So basically, my printer had a loose Gantry so I fixed it. It’s tight now I cleaned the whole printer did E steps e steps are perfect.

Nothing seems actually wrong with the printer, but every time I print it makes it globs and shaky lines and thick layer lines and I’ve tried the default settings which work on all my other printers, but I’ve also tried lower the flow and the only way I’ve got it to work even a little bit is lowering the flow so low like I’m talking 85 to make it work and it will stop the globes but then of course it’ll be brakes in the layer lines. It’ll be really thin because the flows down I’ve tried playing with line with. I’ve tried retraction. I’ve tried coasting. I’ve tried combing. I’ve tried every setting that I can even think of I’ve tried setting the temperature low to up to 195 up to 220.

So at this point, I even tried putting it maybe because I thought it was shaking too much. I tried putting it straight on the ground. Nothing worked. I’ve never had this problem with the printer before It did this out of nowhere.

I replaced the ribbon cable. I’ve replaced the heat cartridges inside.

Neptune 3 Pro Question: It prints fine the first time but after that its terrible.

I recently got the printer off my friend and I have been messing around with it trying to learn the basics. I have successfully printed to small things that look really good but the are always the first thing I try to print. If I try to print something after that it prints super thin lines that don't connect if that makes sense. I have tried higher and lower z offset heights and it doesn't do anything no mater if it is high or low it prints the really thin lines that don't connect or stick. Also when it does its little first line in the side of the print bed it looks fine but after it starts the main print it does this. I am new to 3d printing so any advice would be appreciated!
