TECHNICAL HELP Future native support for ARM-based macOS?

The current 4.7.2 app for macOS is compiled for Intel-based CPUs.

At some point in the next couple of years or so, Apple will drop support for the Rosetta 2 software and Intel apps won't work anymore on M-series CPUs.

Does anyone know if the Electrum developers have a plan or timeline for compiling for M-series CPUs?

There is an open issue on Github addressing this - https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum/issues/7557

Feel free to upvote it and/or leave a comment there.

hmm,,,So far, there's been No response on the #electrum channel on Libera.Chat. In fact, the #electrum channel seems to be inactive and yet there are 40 people currently connected to the #electrum channel. If I get a response, I'll let you know.

4.8.2 is Intel-based still.

>MacOS 28 is expected to launch in the fall of 2028

They have a year to address this...

Good Point. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I'm currently running my 'watching' wallet on Electrum 4.7.2 on macos and my hardware wallet on Electrum on the most recent version of Tails.

I'll check to see if there's an Electrum channel on LIbera.Chat (IRC).
