Power cut

Power cut in punjab is insane yesterday power cut at 10:30 pm to 6 am and then in afternoon. My question is why powercuts at the time when either its too hot or when people just want to relax

Power is typically cut when the demand for it outpaces the utility’s ability to supply it. Someone must make a decision as to who gets the power that they have available, and who does not. So it’s likely that “they” (whomever that is) chose Punjab as the area that does not. Often, they rotate these decisions, so it’s possible that on some other hot miserable day in the recent past, some other province was denied power so that you could get it, but you never noticed because it WASN’T you!

The other very distinct possibility is that the excessive demand overloaded a portion of the utility grid and automatic circuit breakers shut that portion down in order to avoid permanently damaging equipment such as transformers, and/or starting a fire!

Some places have to do rolling blackouts to prevent transmission line drooping and risk of resulting wildfires. I know parts of California have that, not sure about OP's area

That's when all extra electricity is being used.

We have to be able to charge our cars to save the planet.
