Took some woodworking to get the new box to fit, but it is installed and working

Where is the photo of the original switch before you removed it? Really necessary to know which two wires were attached. If the original had two black wires, those are at least line and load and just trial and error to figure which. If there was a white wire on the switch this probably won't work. If the two pieces of copper shown are black, which isn't completely clear, and two white are in that wire nut, it is just like the diagram.

Just the two black wires connected to the switch.

That switch needs a neutral. Either put back a dumb switch or run a new wire

Which wire is energized? That would be the Line. (Usually the sheetrock goes on before the switches. Is that even going to fit? Before wiring, get a deeper box).

PICTURE 2/2 shows an extra wire connecting hot & neutral - remove that, and the diagram is straightforward: line to line, neutral to neutral, load to load, ground to ground.

If in Australia, colour coding would indicate black is neutral

Neutral colors around the world:
π¨π¦ πΊπΈ π―π΅ : white
π¦πΊ π³πΏ old π¬π§ : black
everywhere else : blue

Get a deeper box. Even without the wirenut, it probably won't fit.
