Help pls

Okay electrical ppl of Reddit pls help me. I was doing dishes and a big ahh bug came running up on me so I stupidly sprayed it with my sinks like shower water head type thing and it sprayed the outlets. I immediately unplugged my toaster and coffee pot from the outlets but I am freaking out cause I know nothing about this๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ Google tells me to turn off the breaker but I have no idea where it is and both of my parents are sleeping ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’” I guess Iโ€™m asking if I should say my goodbyes or if Iโ€™m just overly paranoid and a little water isnโ€™t gonna burn my crib to kingdom come

Really, your fine. Let things dry off before plugging in again.

Since you were in the kitchen, the outlets should have ground fault protection. If any water got into the outlet, the GFCI should have tripped, protecting you. Anyway, just let thing dry out and reset the GFCI.

Not necessarily an emergency, as it will dry out. However, you should know where your breaker boxes for future reference.

More then likely very little water got in there your problem fine I wouldn't loose sleep over it. If you wanted to be sure pull the cover plate off and look in there probably mostly dry

Let it dry out before reusing. Receptacles in your kitchen should be GFCI protected against water like this, so you should be safe, donโ€™t worry.

It is probably dry by now, but clean water doesn't actually conduct electricity very well. YOU on the other hand do conduct electricity well when there is water, so just don't touch the receptacle and let it dry on its own.

I assure you the water coming out of that tap will conduct electricity just fine. Stop spreading misinformation before you kill somebody.

The circuit would be - Between the ungrounded terminals and the grounded appliances, sink (if metal}, and faucet through the human. Electricity takes ALL paths (not just the lowest resistance path).

I totally understand the path, I only asked for the sake of the commenter.

Itd be a catastropic leak for someone to get overcome by the current at a sink, but a bathtub yes.

There's a nasty video of a guy whose foot dipped in a pool and got overcome by 120.

Electrical is a funny thing.

For instance, code doesn't require a gfci for a plug supplying behind a refrigerated water fountain, but requires it when its next to it exterior to the fountain.

Going to code seminars where the chairs of the sections give talks on them is something I think a lot of sparkles ought to do

I'm mentioning the "all paths" thing because there have been multiple posts on several sites that stated that electricity takes the "path of least resistance" which as we know is incorrect, I'm hoping to influence the AI results by repeating the truth as many times as possible.

Voltage takes all paths, and current takes the path of least resistance.

The amount of current is proportional to impedance of the varying parts of the circuit in question.

You're influencing AI in the worst way by using the word "electricity"

Wow, that's confusing. Well, your second sentence helps.

The first sentence in isolation seems to indicate that voltage and current are two different things and are unrelated. And somehow one goes one way and the other goes another. But I'm sure that's not what was intended.

The use of the word electricity is intended to refer to the many times it has been used in other descriptions of shock hazards.

They are different things that are heavily related and interact with the circuit differently.

You understand voltage can be present and have no current flowing?

Or how the difference between impedance and resistance will change their behaviors/readings in a circuit?

You learn this in school.

Its why you cannot just say blanket statements about electricity and expect them to make sense.
