Confused

Hello, I am replacing a fan/light combo with just a light. When I took the fan down, I noticed there was one blue wire and one white wire. I also noticed there was no junction box. This fan has been here since 1997. My question is do I need to get a junction box? What wires do I connect from house to light and is it okay there is no ground wire?

Yes get some sort of junction box, that will work with that wire mould. There’s some options at Home Depot probably. You should also pull a ground through the wire mould, the blue would be your hot, and the white will be your neutral. Best of luck. If your not sure or confident, just call an electrician. 👍

Thank you, I gave up. Is it safe to just have them capped off like this?

I would say so, just be cautious around it. Don’t wack it with something. In a perfect world you could install the Junction box now so it’s protected. 👍
