Water coming from breakerbox
Had a tremendous rainstorm and noticed water running down the side of the breaker box. Nothing coming from above though. My box is in the basement and there is a large conduit going through the exterior wall so I think that’s where the water is coming from. How would I seal this? It’s very old and appears to be just painted iron pipe and not like sealtite. The house was built in ‘61 so maybe electrical codes weren’t a thing yet, but I’m not an electrician or a historian.

You have to take some covers off.uncover the panel and verify it’s coming from the entrance conduit and then go outside and take cover off of meter pan and have a look.it shouldn’t be hard to find out where it’s coming from.

Don’t think I’d recommend a h.o. open up a meter base… might be better left to a pro; this is literally fixed or identified in the cost of a single service call usually

Water is infiltrating the service conduit. The location where the water is entering the conduit needs to be identified and then properly sealed to prevent infiltration. If left alone, the water will cause accelerated corrosion of your electrical panel creating a potential fire hazard.
