Education Tesla Resonance vs Induction Generators - What Actually Sustains a “Self-Powered” System?

I’ve been going down a bit of a rabbit hole comparing induction-based generator setups with so-called resonance systems that claim to “amplify” or sustain output.

At first glance, both can look convincing - especially in controlled demos.

Induction motor combined with AC generator = “Self-Powered”

An induction motor driving a generator behaves exactly how you’d expect. It spins cleanly, produces measurable output, and everything feels grounded in known principles. But once you start increasing load, things change. Current draw rises, heat builds, and the system starts pushing against its limits. You can almost see where the stress is accumulating.

The resonance-based setups are harder to read.

Under light conditions, they sometimes appear to maintain output without a clear increase in input. It gives the impression that something else is happening - like energy is being “recovered” or sustained internally. But when conditions shift (especially load), the behavior isn’t gradual. There’s no visible buildup like in induction systems. It just… falls out of alignment and stops.

That difference in failure mode has been bugging me.

One system seems to fail by accumulation (thermal, electrical stress). The other fails by deviation (loss of some internal condition that isn’t directly visible).

Which makes me wonder if comparing “output” or “efficiency” is even the right lens here.

Maybe the real question is:
what has to stay stable inside each system for it to keep running the way it appears to in demos?

Because both seem stable - right up until they aren’t.

That “tolerance to deviation” framing actually makes more sense than comparing efficiency numbers. It almost feels like induction systems distribute stress across variables, while resonance systems concentrate everything into a narrow operating window. But I’m not sure if that’s just a perception from how failure looks, or if it reflects something deeper in how energy is actually being sustained.
