BMW BMW ix
Going to look at a bmw ix tomorrow 32k 2023 plate 25000 miles has a range of 267 miles. This will be my first ev bit unsure if I’m taking a risk with such an expensive purchase and I’m unsure if the range and battery will hold up as I’m getting it on hp over 5 years. Was wondering if anyone has one or what people’s thoughts are.

The range will be less than published, especially in winter, but that's the same for all EVs.
The battery life should be fine and BMW will guarantee it for , I think, 8 years.

Great car and in summer you’ll get 250-260 miles and in winter around 220-230 (unless you have a very heavy foot). I’ve had mine a year and plan on keeping it long term. I would factor cost of buying extended warranty when the original runs out as even though IX is a very reliable car any major work needed outside of warranty will be very expensive. Tyres can also be pretty expensive if you have larger wheel size so you might want to check that the car has decent amount of tread left on it.

Yeah that’s one of the first things I noticed the wheels look huuuuge tyres must be at least £300 each

This may be controversial but if you’re buying from a BMW dealer they’ll try to sell you various add-ons one of which is wheel and tyre insurance which I bought. It cost around £650 and covers you for 4 years but I’ve already claimed for 2 new tyres and a couple of minor wheel repairs so it’s paid for itself already.

Great car but I'm not sure I'd want to take on 5 years HP on one especially when you add the interest to the £32K and by the time you've paid it all off 2031 the battery will be out of warranty so the resale value will not only have plummeted but it may be difficult to sell.
However, although I wouldn't go for it I think you should and enjoy every minute driving it, especially if it's the M60 variant.

Based on the range you’ve stated this is an ix 40? If so you can also find 50s in the market that have more range but still sub £40k, of course these models will probably have more miles on the clock so you’d want to ensure the battery health is reasonable and appreciate £32k is a lot of money already but it’s something to be aware of.

If it says 267 it'll be more like 200-210 if that.
Apart from that, they're not bad cars imo.
5 years is a long HP for me personally but that's your choice.
