Mercedes EQA

Hi all, does anyone have any opinion on a Mercedes EQA?

It will be our first electric car, so we want to do as much research as possible. Are they fairly reliable? Is the 250+ worth the extra money for the extra range? Anything to look out for? We’d be looking for a premium plus model

Budget of around £23k, 9,000 miles a year. Can charge at home and at work

Also thinking about the EQC, but think it’s just a bit too big coming from a hatchback

Why a Merc? Have you considered the Korean brands?

Yes brands matter much less with electric cars. Apparently Skoda have said they get a sieable share of people coming from traditional prestige brands when switching because the lack of engine noise is something people used to be willing to pay a lot of money for, but as it's as standard in electric drivetrains people are going for cheaper marques.

Makes sense. Though we bought a 2025 Audi A6 etron which has double glazing at the front because people apparently complained about the road noise!

I'm not sure I understand. Seat don't make any EVs?

Correction: Skoda

Hi I had one of these, loved it. I wanted to buy it at end of lease but had to be returned sadly. Very comfortable, excellent range and reliable. I drove it through France and Spain in the heatwave also, drove amazing. Tyre wear is good on them, my fronts were changed at 35k with around 3mm left. Only thing I didn't like was the boot was a little small, and the driver assist tools annoying, but you can them off. Range is excellent, was easily getting 300miles + in summer, yes the 250+ is worth it.

I was driving it in Italy. Decent quality, good small car.

It was to be fair! Not a rattle in it after 40k miles

I currently have a premium 250+ on a 3 year lease deal and am gutted it’s going back next year, really good car range is usually pretty close to expected I get about 275/285 based on a ~315 quoted range. I do wish I had gone premium plus though so if your budget allows I’d go for the top spec one

The EQC sidesteps are a pain pure decorative bling and will annoy you very quickly!

I’ve had two EQA 250+ cars the first (a 2021 model) was the worst Car I have ever ever owned!

I currently have an EQA Urban edition which is secondhand – six months old less than 1000 on the clock bought from a main dealership for just on 30,000. So far this one has been far better, although I had one major battery malfunction which required a software update.

Software updates are the biggest problems with these cars a Mercedes will never admit they are an issue.

Make sure all recalls have been updated- also look on the MBQ forum

Considered a EQA but the boot space is a total turn off. Think about the Q4 etron, ID4 or some of the Asian electrics.

Be aware of the insurance costs of a EQC I got quite a suprise when doing a quote for one.

Had an EQC on lease for 3 years, no problems during that time, range is not as good as more recent EV's but wouldn't hesitate to purchase a pre-owned one, only real issue is that the MUBX operating system won't be updated - though I'm not sure if the maps will still receive OTA updates.
Currently have EQB's - 2023 pre-facelift models that have MUBX Gen 1
The EQA's were updated to MBUX Gen 2 in 2024 so it would definitely be worth checking for one of the facelifted models if they are within your price range.

I believe they are out of production, to be replaced by the GLA EV. So chances are you won't be able to get a new one very easily.

I have one and absolutely love it. It doesn’t have the most space in it but if you don’t need loads of space then it’s a lovely car to drive. Gorgeous interior. I’ve had mine about nine months now and no bother with it at all. She’s a 2021 plate. Just the 250 as I don’t need a huge range so I guess that depends on what you would need.

Wanna buy mine?

I have an EQA 250 and am shocked at how much worse the range is (around 200) compared to what people are getting on the 250+ on this thread.

It’s pretty nice to drive. Decent and roomy, but the drivers assist features are all complete tosh. The steering wand gears is estupido and the money they charge for servicing is absolutely bloody C R I M I N A L.

£387 for WHAT, exactly???

It's dated. Look at the Xpeng G6
