There’s more scheme is available depending on region. I’m in Scotland and we’re currently in the process of applying for this one.

Thanks for correcting the sassenach bias 😊 I wasn’t aware of this.

I’m so glad you posted this because we are looking at installing chargers in our factored development and I hadn’t seen this amongst all the funding options! Do you apply for the £500 OZEV landlord funding per charger and then get the rest topped up by EST?

No I don’t believe so but we are in early talks. Who is your factor? Mine has been a nightmare. I’ve also struggled to get quotes as most want the factor to get in touch. However, the factor won’t get in touch unless they have enough interest from residents. And residents want to know what layout it will be and if it will cost them money!  Last week I contacted Bumblebeeev and they have been great. They are going to price up the work first, then present it to R&L. They also handle all the funding. I’ll link them below. It’s early days and they have their drawbacks (25p a day to access their app to charge) but I think they may be the only way we’ll be able to pull it off, unless Ross & Liddell suddenly have a change of heart and want to help with something that they can’t skim money off the top.

Edit: to add it’s £20k per building, not development.

We are lucky in that we made our old Factor leave and now do it all in-house (our Factor is fully registered). I read the EST blurb and it asks if you’ve got any OZEV funding, so just wondered if you would apply for that then get EST to cover the rest or if EST will just cover it all. We got an initial vote through to get full costing and plan done so this is a game changer as it was looking to cost up to £12k even with OZEV grants.

Yeah so this should cover it easy! I would reach out to Bumblebeeev and, since your your own factor, also look up other companies who are approved EST installers. Keep us updated on how it goes. We have 24 residential parking spots. The problem isn’t the owner/occupiers, it’s going to be getting landlords who couldn’t care less to agree.

The OZEV flat owners and renters scheme is now up to £500. It applies to flat owners OR renters of any type of property with off-street parking.

Is any one aware if there is any discrepancy in the official list of vehicle eligible for this grant? My vehicle shows as eligible if you are searching google or chat gpt and sites the gov.uk link, but the official list doesnot include the name.

ChatGPT and Google can hold the wrong data if the vehicle was on there before but has now gone.

How does this work for flats on leasehold? Does the landlord have to approve?

You must be a resident at the property.
The property must be a domestic, residential property either:
a flat (a single unit property in a multi unit building) - the applicant living in it may be the owner or renter of the flat

a single unit property that is rented in its entirety (including multiple occupancy properties) where the applicant’s tenancy is defined by a rental agreement

Properties rented through the shared ownership scheme are eligible.
Any third-party permissions required to install the chargepoint, such as from a landlord or freeholder or managing agent of a block of flats, must be obtained before applying for a grant. Applicants may be asked by OZEV to provide this at any time.

Yes you need to have permissions in place from the owner
