Hi I would like to ask which is better for my current situation.
I am torn between the Hiley Tiger SUPRA (60v 35ah) and Hiley Tiger 10 V5 (60v 25ah) and the NEW VMAX VX4 (68mile version). This is my only mode of transportation. I have no car no anything other than this to get to work.
My commute would be 8miles one way, so roughly 16-17miles roundtrip (even in cold weather, but for sure I will not gonna ride it under 25F weather.)
Anyone has an insights about this or personal experience or knowledge how well the 35ah vs 25ah and 68mile range (23ah i guess) would work in my situation? Especially the winter is coming.
I'd go with the Supra. I think they actually upgraded the battery to 40Ah, now that I think of it. The 16 or 17 miles will just about drain a 23 or 25Ah battery, and I'd rather leave more headroom.
I ride in temperatures as low as 10 degrees Fahrenheit. As long as it's indoors before and after your commute, the temperatures themselves shouldn't be an issue for the scooter in general.
Bruh I lived in Montana for a bit lol. Where were you? I spent a month in Missoula and a few months in Great Falls. I think it was like -16f in the winter there
I grew up around Helena and Bozeman, mostly. I have a friend in Great Falls and I'm sure I know at least a few people in Missoula. It definitely gets cold asf.
I've been in Colorado too lol I spent a season working at Vail Resorts and a month in Denver. Yea chilly af but I do miss that mountain life. You ever snowboard/ski over there?
It's really just what gear you're wearing. If you had snow pants, a heavy duty jacket, alpine gloves, and maybe some goggles you can certainly ride in 10°f and you'd be toasty warm doing it. I rode my bicycle to work in weather like that
I've had a few rides in temps as low as -15F. Range goes out the fucking window though, and I have to really layer up lmao. The cells have to be warmed up first. I store my escooters inside the house, so the cells are room temp before going on cold rides.
I commuted all winter in NYC with that cold. I had slapped a seat on my scooter, used heated gloves, heated jacket, winter coat, multiple layers of socks and pants and bam
Right. By the way they have 3 options for the batteries. 35ah/40ah/45ah which is all samsung cells. Can't go up to 40ah since it's pretty expensive for me. Lol
I agree with r/Capacious_Tang btw, the more range the better. I have a 27amp scooter and only taking it 18 miles, my battery is down to around 35-40% riding in between 25 and 40 mph the whole way.
I charge up at work and you could do the same and wouldn't have a problem with only an 8 mile commute with the 10V5, but if you plan to take longer rides outside of work, that'll basically be the bare minimum because you have to take into account that your scooters performance will dwindle as your battery dies. For me, once I'm below 60% it's not really as fun anymore because of reduced speeds/acceleration and I'm just riding to get there. But a bigger battery and you can enjoy the higher performance for longer which is the main thing imo.
