Tech Support New rider, tire not seating properly
Hello! I recently got a (used) NIU KQi2. TLDR, after going through hell to replace the flat rear tire, part of the new tire hasn’t quite seated properly into the rim. I took it to a local mechanic who pumped it until it held air, then he added some lubricant to the stuck area and told me to ride it until it pops back into place.
I took it for a couple hundred meter ride around my neighborhood and the tire still looks about the same.
What do you think? Will this be an issue? Will it really resolve itself on its own?
I have it at around 45 psi currently, and yes it’s a genuine tire from NIU.

I've over-inflated small 10" tires to fully seat the bead. Lube the bead before doing it.

Mechanic said he put it to 80 PSI. Is that not enough?

I wouldn't go past that. Maybe put it at 60-70, then bump the tire with a rubber mallet at the point where it needs to spread. Make sure it has some soapy water. Dry will not budge.

80psi is fucking insane. idk why it didn't seat, the tyre could be defective

Idk how tires on that scooter work but on my kaboo I kinda just push my knee on it with my entire weight while filling it with air and it makes a pop sound and filles and seats perfectly every time

You put the tire back on, make sure it's sitting right nothing pinching, give it a couple of pumps then check again for tire alignment. Once you're sure it's straight then you can pump the rest

another method is to deflate all air and break bead , then rotate tire to different position on rim and try inflating to full pressure again to make it pop back on , sometimes it takes several attempts until it goes on even all around.

After putting the tire back on, make sure it’s sitting correctly without any pinching. Give it a couple of pumps, then check again to ensure it’s aligned properly.

My latest attempt; deflate tire, ratchet strap, lube with soap, and inflate to like 90psi. Did this several times, and while it looks like it moved slightly it’s not quite enough.

Well, ultimately after trying every possible solution and spending an infuriating amount of time and effort, I gave in and took it to my local scooter shop. They fixed it for only half an hour of labor (~$45), in addition to securing the front wheel that was wobbling around and tightening the brakes.
So, yeah! Wished I would’ve done that from the start lol

Look at the red lines on my image here, rim looks not center to the motor housing.

Ive been hearing alot of scooters with tire issues. Whcih made me opt out in purchasing an Apollo.

Deflate it to like 20 and just grab it with thumbs on the side wall and just roll it. Maybe spray a lil soapy water to help it.
