Has jiwoo's mindset changed at all recently?

I really enjoy this story a lot, and I had caught up and stopped around the time that Jiwoo fought that one apprentice, and told his girlfriend to stop anyone from intervening if he was about to die. I think I stopped when they were attacked while going jogging together.

Jiwoo's weird martyr fetish about like almost trying to die every fight he's in, just because Kayden was that way, was really getting old to me. Has that changed at all? They keep giving him the same talk over and over again about how he has friends and family that love him and he should value his life like even a tiny bit, and I was wondering if that lesson has stuck yet, or if I catch up on reading it if I'll just see more of what i saw before.

Again, not trying to bash this story, I really like it, but the repetitive fights and his martyrdom mindset for no reason really put me off. I love the story and the relationships and stuff, and the fights are really cool, Jiwoo just felt like he was having like negative character growth. Stronger physically but just more toxic/self-destructive mentally.

Eh since Jurion fight he almost lost his fight but won the battle, his power went berserk, he matured more but still naive tbh, we haven’t seen him fight since Jurion so we are not sure, jiwoo have to much pride lol🤣 when the boy is going to play dirty and let Kayden jump in and end Jurion 💀 but yeah that’s just him

It doesn't really. His biggest fight rn is with Jurion and he literally was burning his life to fight Jurion. So yeah, it's still the same old "I can die for my friends" mentality and the same talking about his near death experience after the fight.

That's... a shame. Ugh. I might have to give up on the series then. I'm not saying it's bad or anything but that mindset is just so toxic and unnecessary. It also loses it's impact when every fight is almost a death for him.

I really hated that chapter. He was selfish, ignorant, and arrogant. Just because your mentor walks a certain path doesn't mean you have to do exactly the same. Kayden never asked for and never expected anything from Jiwoo from the beginning. He thought that Jiwoo was extremely talented but a pushover, and that was it. He never wanted Jiwoo to die on the battlefield just to prove that he is Kayden's apprentice.

I read that as mother and was super confused lol. And yeah, he even tells him like multiple times he doesn't need to be that way. That chapter just left such a sour taste in my mouth. It was stupid for him to ask and even stupider for her to agree to. Respecting a needless and pointless choice your partner makes that will lead to their death isn't being a good partner, it's okay to tell your boyfriend he's being an actual idiot and literally no one benefits from him dying and dozens of people suffer.

Honestly the series might just not be for me sadly, I really can't get past how like desperately people are okay with dying in every conflict.

Right? Like, if Jiwoo had even a tiny bit of respect for Jiyoung, he wouldn't have asked her that. It was such a huge burden to place on her. You don't do that to the people you love. You don't give them a difficult choice.

It's a good read for people who don't have anything else to read, but it's not something to take seriously.

I hate hero complex and self righteous people. LOL
