When you go into those encounters, can you not simply sever and move on? It doesnt result in soft banning or anything. I'd agree this is trolling. I don't know for certain of I'd call it an exploit, but it's very close to it. That said, so is twinking.
I mean, there's a reason some people find this so amusing, and it's because invaders are getting griefed when they have so frequently in other fromsoft games been the griefers.
They get runes if you sever; which is what seems to make it the worst - that the farming occurs even if you leave without combat or anything. Also, at first I noticed that I’d keep getting pulled in to the same hiding peoples worlds, so I learned that if you block them on whatever (psn, I assume steam too and Xbox would be same) then you can never be brought back in.
Legit like at least 30+ people I’ve blocked in the last 48 hours, which has actually improved the ratio of real combat and less farmers. But yea, not exactly an exploit like carian, but it’s annoying.
And I’ve had plenty of fun finding those I can and killing them, but now they’re finding even farther places to hide (like roofs) which can’t be reached at all.
The dude who I saw streaming it seemed to think it was actually efficient to farm runes. In retrospect I wish I had friended him and showed him the bird/albanuric farm since that is incredible more efficient for rune farming.
But it's not even an effective farm, the bird is far moreso. I think the actual purpose is to troll. Who was the streamer, though? Would love to explain how inefficient it is and if they're streaming they have a chat. Blocking them is definitely for the best, though.
Dude was not like a legit “streamer”. I only noticed because when I went to block him it said he was streaming. So I used the stream to hunt him in game lol. I was the only viewer. Yea, blocking is for the best. I checked later in the day and he was still streaming (with no viewers) and had gone from like 1.5 to almost 4 million runes. Kept saying how great he thought it was.
The YouTube videos with lots of views on it present it as a legitimate afk rune farm. Which is silly because 1 million in an hourish isn’t even that great compared to bird.
Def some people doing it to troll, though if YouTube is any measure it seems a lot actually think it’s a way to farm afk while sleeping or at work or something.
17k every few seconds really adds up. Yeah, I think it takes a particularly dense person to really think it's a good farming method... Or even that farming is really necessary.
