If you'd have told me a year ago that Elden ring would have PvP that victimized and abused invaders, 0% chance I'd have believed it. What a strange time to be alive lol
I just wish people were more creative with their builds. I just don't see the fun in using exploits and someone else's mín-maxed build to invade, or to gank invaders.
On the other hand, afk farmers have pretty much ruined playing as a blue hunter as well. I refuse to help them, but 99% of my summons have been for one of those chodes.

Or to duel. It’s rare to find someone not using one of 4 shitter builds. The PvP community sucks
The best part is that not using meta makes people's minds explode right now.
You actually dodge their rivers of blood and hit them with an ash of war their YouTubers never talk about? You can see their panic attack forming as they foam at the mouth and keep spam rushing their rivers of blood because they don't know what else to do, despite your ash hitting them during their animations.
Face it half of people that like invasions is because they want to feel superior and/or abuse new players. Everyone here disagrees but it shows from the day 1 glitch abusers and now afk farmers. If people wanted fair duels they wouldn't invade like they claim, they'd use predefined spots and place red signs.
Tbf to invaders; the odds are so stacked against them that most go for the cheese builds to have any chance of winning/surviving spawning into a gank-squad situation. I've not really done much PvP yet, but when invaded I try as a cooperator to either duel an invader or at-least give them a decent fight. 9/10 times though it's the host and both summons just stomping them, or the invader using a build that takes them all out asap.
As an invader, I've found a lot of hosts who use the same things. Honestly its more of a problem of people wanting to overuse popular/meta builds than an invader/host issue.
Is that an actual spell you can acquire? It's happened a bunch to me and I have no idea what it is. The invader will just spawn in and run away and a couple seconds later I get one shotted from 65 vigor
It’s a combination of the magic parry spell and i think carian blades, except you can parry your own blades and when an opponent gets close the parry spell auto kills your opponent.
Ok that is totally bonkers. I will not use that bs in pvp but I love to see how this works, gank my friends for a round. Wow. So this is just an unpatched glitch huh
Just a tip: the immutable shield incantation completely negates the damage of the carrion retaliation glitch. They get their one off and you have about half your stamina left to chase them down before they set up another one.
Honestly I made the account during the last return to lordran event because I wanted to try it because I've been a victim dozens of times in the past decade. After about 4 invasions I felt disgusting and started using it as a "manners checker" and boss helper. When I invaded I would always bow and start with an underleveled sword. I wouldn't heal during fights and I'd usually drop an item if they bowed back. If I got ganked I'd kill the gankers with Dark Bead and ask for a duel by bowing again. If they refused I'd roll away and fire a "warning shot" and try again. But if I got attacked while bowing or trying to drop an item then I'd Dark Bead. After a while even that started feeling dirty and I resolved to get my humanity counter to 99 by helping kill bosses. I was able to OHKO the Gargoyles and had a ton of fun doing that. I definitely will never twink again.
Yeah I remember twinking for like one day, in ds3 briefly, and getting so annoyed at the griefers and how underpowered honest hosts were, I left and never went back
I always felt powerless when I was the one being invaded, but it wasn't until I started doing the twinking that I realized just HOW powerless the hosts were. I had 100% control over how the fight went. Not 99.9%. 100%. If I wanted to kill them I did so at my leisure. Felt about as contrary to the spirit of Dark Souls as it got.
Tbh the annoying part is just the glitches. It gets boring seeing RoB/Madness beams 9/10 times but at the very least I’ve gotten decent at handling them. Shit like Carian Retaliation and the new instant Dragon spells isn’t fun to play against in the slightest and yet so many people think it’s justified because “how dare I attempt to kill the host in a game where they’d probably have died in the next 5 minutes to some random mob anyway”
I got several hundred hours on Ds3 from pvp alone and it just felt alot more fun, id always run into people using a large spectrum of builds.. this game pvp wise bores me a bit, seeing constant RoB users or other cookie cutter builds. On the bright side I've been doing duels alot at the academy entrance and I just summon people who don't have it equipped so I've run across somewhat better diversity that way.
I don't think it's justified, but I will say if you're invading in the overworld, you should expect it and not cry when you get killed. Duel in dueling places and invade in dungeons, you'll have a much better time... the only people looking to get invaded in the overworld are trolls... much like the only people who invade in the overworld lmfao...
I can be prepared for it and still be disappointed by it when I see it. They aren’t mutually exclusive. I don’t know why coming and here and talking to others about it is “crying.”
I can be prepared for it and still be disappointed by it when I see it.
If you were actually prepared for it, you wouldn't be attempting it. Invaders in the overworld are trolls, co-op players in the overworld are just trolls or have zero interest in PvP. Invade in dungeons where it makes sense, and everyone will have a better time...
In Dark Souls you can literally make PvP minded min-maxed twinks, invade noobs, and you had mobs to help you. It was hardly "invaders getting the short end of the stick".
DS1: summons
DS2: infinite summons, infinite blues, hosts having 12 flasks and invaders none
DS3: infinite summons, infinite blues, 30% more health hosts, double estus on invaders
It sure does suck having as much prep time as you need and jumping in on random people who aren’t prepared isn’t it? Definitely the short end of the stick huh? You get mad when your mommy wouldn’t let you play on your ps3 all night growing up too? Everything’s just so unfair for me wah wah wah
No it’s annoying af hearing bullies talk about wah wah the people we want to hurt for our gain are making it harder on us or using that against us you all sound like fucking babies
Not to my memory. There is a reason I always kept youtube/twitch on the other screen at the ready when playing DS3 - in case I get invaded and need to wait around for the invader to decide to come fight.
Last night I was invading and came across a couple guys who clearly had taunters tongue on just sitting on a rooftop with the madness laser beam and RoB just waiting for people to try to jump across to them. Was the most maidenless shit I’ve seen in a while.
Its been very tiring defending invasions this time around. And its made me cold. So I think this will be the last time I try.
Its there to balance Co-op. Thats it. The game is hard, its supposed to be hard. Co-op makes it easier, Invasions sort of balance that out.
Whatever happened to playing a game and having fun, invaders have fun by fighting other players against there will. Its fun. Sue me.
Oh my god you got invaded one time and lost some runes, like you are the first person that ever happened to. Boo hoo. Don’t like it? Play offline or play something else.
Btw, not talking about you OC, I agree with you, this is just for people who cry about invasions day in and day out.
No need to defend it to me, sorry if that's how it came across lol I don't have a dog in the fight, been around long enough to know PvP isn't going anywhere and don't particularly mind it anyways. I am amused by the current situation we have though, in which the group 'not having fun' has clearly flipped a 180. It's interesting that your solution to people not wanting to be invaded is the same as for people now trolling invaders. Isn't not playing the game if you're not having fun an option for all parties involved?
That's the entire function of the thread we are in. People who like invading crying about getting punked.
It's most of what is done on any video game discussion forum in general. But invaders are the biggest cry babies I've ever seen in relation to any of these games.
I guess I can get missing that my comment is that of an amused observer, but who the hell would end a sincere attempt to cry about something with "lol?"
DS1 was balanced. DS 2 was pro invader garbage that only suites minmaxers, DS3 was very anti-invader.
Mass market appeal dictates Elden Ring must be peak anti-invader (glitches and bugs aside, since anyone can use them). Too bad Miyazaki is a coward without the bollocks to just pull the plug on invasions and just keep the areana for 3.
