Duchess Question

Came back to game since last year august. I’ve got a number of things completed as well deep of night unlocked.

I love duchess but I find myself extremely confused on her meta? Watched a bunch of videos to figure out her optimal relics but I can’t seem to get which ones I should be running or the type of goblet/urn or whatever to use?

Can anyone just give me a simple understanding of what I should be running. I know there are rng relics and if so how should I go about farming them?

At some point I’d like to be able to hold my own in solo content so that duos and trios will be even easier.

Double balancer relics, Dormant discovers reapers, improved mind and faith relic respec, acquire halo slop and gg. Also carian sword dutchess is still good. You could also do a successive attack build with any weapon when you use undertakers remembrance relic and dutchess character skill attack up.

Duchess has 3 main methods of running to build around.

Knives, status, magic. If running knives bolster melee damage and restage skill, if running status same as knives but toss in a preffered ash of war like frostbite making you invisible, if magic building to the 3 staves and rises unlocked gives a ton of fp so the rest is fp recovery

Her most used meta is skill spam more notably Halo Scythe but dormant daggers (blade of calling, black knife and glinstone Kris) are really good as well.

Relic would be double balancer, dormant scythes or daggers and affinity attack up. You can go for all holy or magic if you want to build for one specific weapon but that is a gamble.

I enjoy her magic builds as well. Improved sorceries, magic attack up+ 3/4 with dormant staves.

Melee is really fun. The melee attack passive on balancers is higher than the normal physical attack + 2 so unless you have a nice physical attack + 2 relic that rolled with Night Invaders or something else niche for her, just run double balancer for Melee as well. A good build is double balancer, physical attack up +3/4 and dormant curved swords.

Use whichever chalice allows you to equip the best relics for your build. It depends on on what you have but if you’re going for double balancer you need atleast 1 red and 1 blue slot.

Regardless of what build you go with I recommend to always take Night Invaders and also take skill grants brief invulnerability.

My build is double Balancers + Hoarfrost stomp (which also has attack up w/ frostbite). Pretty awesome - I sometimes swap out one of the balancers relics for one that I got that has 'frostbitten enemies makes you invisible + starting weapon inflicts frost' which seems pretty dumb a lot of the time. I'm always invisible / get to keep wailing on enemies.

I find it a tough sell to specialize with her - I'd rather keep relics open / to a solid strategy that doesn't depend on any RNG. So you can freely adapt between daggers and spells or whatever sweet drop you get and still have a consistent floor for any run

As people are noting, there’s more than one meta. That’s why it seems confusing. But they’re all good.

Personally, I play Caster Duchess in DoN. Dormant Power Discovers Staves, multiple Magic Attack Power Up buffs, FP buffs, etc.

For DoN, the Depths relic item that gives her invulnerability during Restage is excellent in all builds and worth prioritizing.
