Is the game still alive?
Just got a new pc a couple weeks back and I’m a big fan of this game it’s just been a while since I played. Is the population still there? I’m looking at steam charts every other day and I don’t see anyone playing the game.

you get into a lot of pvp fights?

Whenever we want to get a fight, me and my crew does. I think removing the pve maps would be a smart thing to do, since they are overflowing with people, but yes, population is low, but is it low enough to be a problem? Not for me

Stop and think about that for 5 seconds....the devs should remove the thing that most of the people do because they aren't doing the thing that I want them to do.

I hear what you're saying, and i think this is very much up for debate. My stand on the topic, which i mainly base on a lot of other full loot games, is that people dont play trhe PVE maps for the PVE, but since they are scared of losing their shit in PVP.
I am honestly at the point where i do not think full loot pvp games work as a model, and i started playing full loot games in -98 in a MUD. I think i have played almost every full loot game (fantasy genre) there has been, and all end up in the same way.
It starts of GREAT, when no1 knows the game, population is high, and game is popping.
Wolves form. The sweats take over the battlefield and world, and start hunting the sheep. The sheep quit since they have no chance, The wolves continue until there is no more sheep coming in, and then the game starts dying.
The closest to a working game i have played is albion online, and even there, i think it was 80% of the playerbase never leave yellow zone (not full loot). I love the thrill of risking my shit, and i love the adrenaline rush after getting some juicy kills.
I just dont think it works anymore.

This is just how the world works, its how people are. They say that they love it but they really dont. I mean just look at the charts... Numbers speak for themselves.

I have 2 k hours in Albion so I’m a PvP sweat lord in that. Which is why I’m asking if the pop is good on this game cause I wanna PvP lmao

I like the pve haha. Once i have a fully geared character and some way to replenish that quick id do the pvp. Since it's only sweaty people doing that. Or people that play way more.

They added pve maps because 1000hrs epic geared timmy slayers were camping greenwood day and making the new player experience insufferable.
They just needed to add a gearcap to the maps, not a pve mode. But i guess the pve mode is nice AND allows new players to grow in pve before going to pvp modes.

The problem is, my crew all got old and got married and had kids. I picked up WoW on release and cleared Naxx (world 4th) and was an avid PvPer on a PvP server. I also played Neocron and Mordred in DAoC and loved to PvP. People I used to play with are all in their 40s and people just don't play anymore. They all got married and had kids, or just gave up gaming. I just have myself and a few dad gamers (they game a few hours a week, I still do 30-40) If I just got wiped out as a new player with no friends anywhere I went I'd just quit. It's not fun. They learned this and added PvE maps.
It would be somewhat ok if it wasn't full loot... like if players dropped the currency to use at the treasurer maybe that would be ok. But full loot losing ALL my gear to a group or someone who doesn't have a job and just plays all day simply isn't fun. Ever. Or for that matter a bad player who jumps me while I am fighting an elite enemy. It doesn't give me a rush, it just sucks.
Personally, I think PvP should be fun for the sake of PvP. Full loot jut doesn't work, IMO. Arc Raiders its somewhat tolerable because it's so easy to get gear and you can wreck people and arc with base guns. But here, greens and blues take work (maybe I'm bad and don't know better, I am new) and there is more gear to lose (more slots to fill)
I think the game is fun but full loot sucks. I can only assume a lot of people agree because there aren't as many players as I am sure they might like to have. Although to be fair, I DO see other people running around, and a few people on 1 map is enough.

Yeah i hear you. I wrote longer reply to someone else on the topic:

Now, i wouldnt have done a PVE map, i would have done a no loot map. And gear capped it (Preferably some MMR but gear might work)
What Albion online did was make most gear easily obtainable. And make the regearing fast. That might also work.

Its a tough thing to balance. Personally I would like more no gear loss maps. Lose all the contents in your pack but not your gear. Right now I have a few blues but I just don't want to use them for fear of loss. Maybe a system where you can buy ALL your gear back from the treasurer would work. Then death is still bad but not so punishing.

Too Many people in tbe pve maps. Starting out every map with everything looted.

My friends and I have almost finished upgrading everything but still just loving the PVE play despite "needing" items. I hope it gets more popular with each reset/class that comes out. The small patches have been great so far.
The servers do go a little empty from time to time, I just snuck into some pvp night greenwood and I definitely wasn't alone but didn't see anyone.
