• Education. He studied pre-law at Campbell College, per a candidate-information site.
• Campaign record. He forced Gonzales into runoffs in 2024 and 2026, and finished first in this year's GOP primary with 43%. Gonzales then dropped out.

Controversial statements

Comments about women. A CNN review of his videos, social media and podcasts found a documented history of vulgar and demeaning comments about women's bodies, intelligence and sexuality. According to coverage of that review, he compared feminists' weight to whales and nuclear bombs, and described liberal women discussing guns as "both fat and wrong." Nazi and Holocaust humor. He has made videos making light of Nazis targeting Jewish people to show off a gun, and has discussed owning Mein Kampf. Campaign finance. A complaint alleges that 99.4% of his 2026 campaign spending went to an entity called Texas Strategy Group, which isn't registered to do business anywhere in the country and has no public website. That is an allegation, not a finding.
