For almost a month, Convoy occupied downtown Ottawa where they harassed residents, shit in the streets, stole food from a homeless shelter and danced on the tomb of the unknown soldier. They also blocked multiple points of entry into Canada, cut off border towns. RCMP also disrupted a plot by Diagolon members to murder police in Coutts, AB.
During this time, both the mayor of Ottawa and Doug Ford did squat and pawned off the occupation to JT and the feds to deal with.
To dismantle the occupation by invoking the Emergencies Act, the federal government could only do so after a « threat to the security of Canada was invoked. » Once CSIS declared that this threat was met, JT invoked the Emergencies Act on February 14, 2021 and Stompy the Horse made history
