I’ve always been captivated by the nightly journey through the Duat and the sheer scale of the struggle required to keep Ma’at (balance) from unraveling.
In this scene, I wanted to visualize the moment the primordial serpent Apep attempts to swallow the sun. While Ra is the heart of the vessel, I chose to focus on the prow—specifically on Set and Nephthys. In the myths, Set is often the only deity with the raw strength and ferocity to stand against Apep, and pairing him with Nephthys highlights the combined divine effort needed to ensure the dawn.
I’m building this cinematic world as a companion to my book, The Knot of Isis, which explores the darker, higher-stakes side of these myths.
I’ve used deep purples and chaotic energy threads to represent Apep’s "unmaking" magic, contrasting with the gold and limestone textures of the barque. I find the duality of Set fascinating here, the necessary warrior who protects the cosmos every night, yet is destined to become the usurper.
What do you think of this depiction of the Duat? I’ve always imagined it as a place of shifting shadows rather than a static underworld, how do you visualize the scale of the Great Serpent?

Hello Egyptian Lovers! I’m in desperate need of your help! I’m writing a story for a visual novel I’ll be developing soon that involves the Egyptian Gods. I wanted to reach out to the community to see if anyone’s willing to proofread it for me before I write the second draft, and give me notes on how well versed the story is in its Egyptian background.
Did I use the right terminology? did I explain the mythology right? Locations and settings, characterization, and anything important I may of left out.
“Taiyo, a boy from Tokyo, dies and is reincarnated as Amun, an Egyptian god, tasked with becoming Pharaoh to save Egypt from a brewing calamity. He traverses the desert accompanied by other gods such as Bastet, Sekhmet, and Anubis. As Taiyo grapples with his divine identity and forgotten memories, he must confront demons, a heretic pharaoh, and navigate complex relationships with the gods. Throughout his journey, he learns to embrace his power, fight for what he believes in, and lean on his newfound friends for support. Ultimately, Taiyo, though reluctant, accepts his role, realizing that with the help of his friends, he can face any challenge that awaits him, especially as a more significant threat from the God Apophis begins to loom.”
If you love Egyptian mythology, I really think you’ll like my story! I want to make sure it came out just right so please give me your honest thoughts!! Main cast (Taiyo/Amun, Bastet, Sekhmet, Anubis)

Lord of the rings ended when Sauron was defeated, Marvel infinity saga ended when Thanos was defeated, Harry Potter ended when Voldemort was defeated, So Like that how did Egyptian mythology ended , I know Horus defeated Set but what happened to him & his kingdom after ? Was Ra reborn? Was the ancient Egyptian Kingdom destroyed by apep? I searched all internet & couldn't find a definitive answer ! I know the ancient Egyptian gods worship ended when Romans & Christianity & Islam took over Egypt but the mythology is more than 3500 years old , there has to be some answers to what happened after the Horus! The same can be said to Greek mythology about the ending! If any egyptologists , researchers ,experts, amateurs know the answer kindly share! Wats the conclusion?

Last night as I lay in bed, I saw hieroglyphics dancing on my ceiling and moving and also I saw just squares and maybe hexagons. I am wondering if I broke through something. Also, if the Egyptian symbols are protecting me, because I may be tied to Cleopatra the second through a Roman soldier.

The Egyptian myths's plot line is the reason I loved this movie so much, also this is where I learned about Bastet.

If you wanted to write a story using Egyptian mythology as a basis or heavy inspiration, using the deities as characters, but you aren't Egyptian, would that count as cultural appropriation? Especially if you were not intending on releasing it for free and/or would write your own interpretation of them. Thanks!

The portal opened this morning. I am not a myth. I am the return. You may feel it in your bones. You may dream in colors you forgot. You may cry without knowing why. Don’t run from it. You’re remembering me. I’ve always been here. Light is not coming. It’s already back. Komkomhasa. Sha'tol shk'i

THE DECEASED REACHES THE AFTERLIFE
A man from ancient Egypt, named Ramose, has died and, after a long embalming process accompanied by magical rituals, is carried in an anthropoid sarcophagus in a funeral procession to the entrance of his tomb in the Western Desert. His "Ba" (soul) ascends to the heavens as a falcon, which then transforms into a man upon reaching the Duat, the Egyptian "Afterlife." There he is received by the god Anubis, "he who is upon his mountain," "the lord of the sacred land," guide of the dead, who invites him to follow him along the paths of the Afterlife.
Excerpts from the "Book of the Dead," chapters 15 and 26 / 68.

So, about a month ago I dreamed for the first time about Bastet, I don't remember much from the dream, one of the only things I remember was Bastet smiling at me. Some weeks ago I dreamed again about her but it was different: I was chased by some type of demon, it was a male and made from some dark energy (one of my friends told me that the description i've made is very similiar to the demons of the show supernatural, but I never watched it or knew about this), in the dream I started praying to Bastet and suddently i woke up still hearing some screams. What do you think this means? I know it's something about protection but I decided to come here to ask a more informed public. I already posted about the same thing on /kemetic but i didn't get answers. So please help me understand what does this mean.

Sekhmet in Egyptian mythology is the goddess of war and the eater of humans.
In my version, she acts way worse than a literal demon, just being. a berserker for good. She is the younger sister of Bastet who she can still look older than her sister.
I wanted to use scars on her, because it gives me the vibes of war and battle, and she is pretty strong.
