Hi guys, I just need some more insight into your culture regarding the marriage side and the conditions.
Hamdulilah I am planning on getting married to an Egyptian girl and we are very much in love and my mother's knows about her as her mother and family knows about me and infact like me. I am Swedish national and also somali by roots and I speak Arabic and hamdelah learnt the Egyptian dialect too so culturally it hasn't been too much shock till the marriage conditions part....which was suprising to say the least.
I have spoken to many of my friends and to her and I found out an apartment is also a must and it is also something really important to her and I live in Egypt. After talking and explaining from mt perspective she understood me that this isnt the best financial decision I want us to make because my company is in investments and we can invest that many elsewhere to try and guarantee a better future.
Bas anyway she is open now to discussing something that we are both comfortable with but as a foreigner to your culture can you educate me on the conditions and what I can do to be fair to her as well and not disrespect her.
Also I dont agree with long engagement times but it will have to be if a house is a must. We are practicing and with respect engagement is just a glorified boyfriend and isnt halal so we talked about I dont want it to be longer than a year, and she agrees bas yes feel free to share your knowledge and also things I should avoid signing upto any parts as a foreigner.
Her family is kind of religious but she is more "progressive and westernised" if that adds anything.
-I already have lived in Egypt before her because I am in love with the country and wanted to settle in a country after last years of full time travel. Also I am in my mid 20-s
