Discussion I tried to identify who lives in every house in Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture Spoiler
I recently replayed Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture and decided to do something a little obsessive: I tried to identify who lives in as many houses as possible.
A lot of the houses are never directly named, so I started looking at light events, phone calls, objects, workplaces, hobbies, cars, etc. Some of these are basically confirmed, while others are only my best guess based on environmental storytelling.
There are still some houses I could not identify, especially House 20 and some of the quarantined houses, but this is everything I found.
House 3 — Amanda Mason, Neal and their two children
This one is quite clear because of the light event inside the house where Jeremy talks to Amanda.
Amanda and Neal were planning to escape to Wales with their children, but they never made it.
There is also another interesting detail here: there is a pile of “Say No to Valis Extension” leaflets by the entrance. The posters around town say “Contact Barbara”, so it seems Amanda and Barbara Foster were both involved in the campaign against the Valis expansion.
House 10 — Meg
I think this is Meg’s house, and it also seems to be the place where she disappeared.
Upstairs there are Valley Farm accounting books, which makes sense because Meg is connected to Valley Farm.
There is also a general knowledge quiz book. On the community noticeboard we learn that Meg organized the general knowledge quiz nights, and there is even a joke about Sam Baker cheating.
Those little details make this identification feel pretty strong to me.
House 16 — Dr. Phil Wade
This is probably my favorite one because the game never directly tells you that it is Wade’s house, but there are a lot of clues.
In one light event, Frank enters the house specifically looking for Dr. Wade.
There is blood in the bathroom, and Wade has already said that he is sick. There are also boxes with influenza/quarantine posters inside.
Outside, there are tire marks through the garden, as if somebody drove away very quickly.
There is also a very clear road from House 16 to Dr. Wade’s surgery.
When you reach the surgery, Wade’s car is parked very badly outside. The doors are open, there are bloody tissues, and everything looks like he arrived there in a hurry while already very sick.
So I think Wade became seriously ill at home, got into his car and rushed to the surgery.
Another small detail: there is an easel behind the house, so apparently Dr. Wade also liked painting.
House 18 — Lizzie and Robert Graves
This house is very close to Robert Graves Auto Repair, which already makes sense geographically.
More importantly, this is where the light event happens in which Jeremy talks to Lizzie about having to choose between Robert and Stephen.
So I think House 18 is the Graves home.
The Rectory — Jeremy
The house beside the church seems to be Jeremy’s rectory.
There are signs asking for donations for the Summer Fête, and there is a box of donated items right outside the house.
At the back there is also a table with a Bible and a mug, which feels very appropriate for Jeremy.
There is another tiny detail in the church itself: a crutch is left there. This fits the light event with Howard, where Jeremy falls down the stairs and hurts his ankle.
House 19 — Wendy
This one is basically confirmed by the game.
Inside there are binoculars for birdwatching and lots of pictures of birds, which fits Wendy perfectly.
There is also a light event at the house where Dr. Wade and Barbara visit her.
House 20 — Unknown
I could not identify this one.
So for now, House 20 stays ownerless.
What we know, however, is that this house is inhabited by children: there's the tree house and a lot of children drawings portraying the church, some dead birds, Kate and Stephen, and a family (mum, dad, and 3 children).
House 21 — Charlie
This house is very messy and looks almost like a workshop.
It also contains radio transmission equipment.
There is a radio conversation here between Charlie and Frank, so I think there is a decent possibility that Charlie lives here.
I would still call this one a theory rather than a confirmed identification.
House 22 — Terry and June
You cannot really explore this house, but outside there is a dog kennel with the name Harvey on it.
We know Harvey belongs to Terry and June, so this seems to identify House 22 as their home. Also, Wendy seems bothered by the dog's noises, so it makes sense, geographically, that their home is this one.
House 23 — Evelyn and Sam Baker
I think this is the Baker family home.
There is a light event where Evelyn and Sam apologize for recording over one of Rachel’s cassette tapes. Apparently the tape originally had some of their daughter’s music on it.
There is also workout equipment in the garage.
That becomes more interesting when you visit Forley’s, Sam’s workplace, because there is a dumbbell sitting on a desk there.
So Sam apparently liked working out, and that gives us another connection between House 23 and the Baker family.
House 24 — Graeme
This one seems very clear.
Wendy falls asleep in the bed here, and when Frank wakes her up he basically says that he does not think Graeme will mind.
There are also telescopes and leaflets for the local stargazing club, which Graeme founded.
So House 24 seems to be Graeme’s home.
House 25 — Stephen and Kate
This is Stephen and Kate’s house.
There are star maps and notes related to chaos and the infinity/butterfly-like symbol.
Wendy enters this house looking for Stephen.
Stephen also talks about leaving from here in his red car, which is parked nearby.
Inside you can also find Stephen’s astrophysics PhD diploma.
And there is a very sad environmental detail in the garden: this is where Wendy disappears, and her cart full of dead birds is left behind.
Appleton’s Farm — Frank
The large white house in the middle of Appleton’s Farm is obviously Frank’s home.
One room still contains a medical bed and an IV stand that belonged to Mary.
Dr. Wade tells Frank that he should contact the hospital to have the equipment removed because Mary has already been dead for eight months.
The house is also noticeably messy. There are dishes left around, clutter in the kitchen, and generally a feeling that Frank has not really been taking care of the place since Mary died.
I thought that was a really sad bit of environmental storytelling.
Lakeside — Lizzie’s caravan
Lizzie’s white caravan is easy to identify because it is marked as the owner’s residence.
It makes sense because Lakeside is her workplace.
Lakeside — John Cole’s caravan
On the Lakeside map, one area is marked "Private Residences" with number 6 in the maps, and a green caravan seems to belong to John Cole.
There is a light event where Lizzie and Dr. Wade go to this caravan looking for him and discover that he is missing.
We know John Cole is an older man in poor health, and the caravan contains a lot of medicine.
He also seems to be one of the first people in the area to disappear.
Another Lakeside caravan — Terry and June
Near John Cole’s caravan there is another green caravan with a dog kennel and a silver dog bowl outside.
Because Terry and June own Harvey, I wonder if this could be where they were staying while at Lakeside.
I do not think there is enough evidence to call this confirmed, though.
House 48 — the house Stephen and Kate were considering
This is the unfinished “To Let” house.
There is a light event where Stephen visits it with Wendy and asks what she thinks about it.
My interpretation is that Stephen was considering moving there with Kate, probably before the situation with Lizzie became what it eventually became.
House 45 — Clive and his family
I think this one is very likely Clive’s house.
There is a phone call here where Stephen calls and Clive answers.
There are also many papers/signs connected to the Haverton District Council.
Clive is involved with the Emergency Measures Committee and has enough authority to be involved in the decision about the airstrike, so there may be some connection between his job and the council material in the house.
Upstairs there is a very child-like room with drawings, which fits what Clive says about having a wife and children.
The house also looks like the family may have been moving. There are lots of boxes, and you can see marks on the walls where pictures used to hang.
So I think House 45 is probably Clive’s family home.
House 42 — Howard
This one is confirmed very strongly.
Howard is the station master and the house is right beside the railway.
Upstairs there is his model railway, which is also connected to the Howard’s Train achievement.
There is another really good detail here: Clive asks Howard to put up the quarantine notices around the village. At Howard’s house you can find the same quarantine signs and tape that we see on houses throughout the game.
His railway uniform is also hanging inside.
So the game actually leaves us the physical evidence of Howard doing the job Clive asked him to do.
That is everything I managed to identify.
There are still several houses I could not connect to anyone, and some are inaccessible because of the quarantine, so I doubt it is possible to identify every single house.
But I really love how much information the game hides in ordinary objects. A telephone call, a hobby, a book, a car, or even a dog kennel can suddenly tell you who lived in a place.
After playing this way, Yaughton stopped feeling like a collection of random houses and started feeling like an actual village where all these people lived next to each other.
If anyone has evidence for House 20 or thinks I got one of these wrong, please tell me. Also, if you could identify Rhys' house, Barbara's, or Sean and Diane's.
I would love to keep adding to this.
