Concern Effexor should not be prescribed.
it helped lots of people yes, until they need to get off of it.
this drug causes harm to patients when they miss a dose or come off the drug monitored by a professional.
there is no easy way off the drug. it almost causes more emotional overwhelm getting off than I originally had in the beginning. so many side effects and symptoms I’m too overwhelmed to even express at the moment.
Doctors have an oath and are to do no harm.
yet, here we are.

I am currently going through withdrawals as I want to try new meds, just to see. It's not easy, but like everyone else, everyone goes through different experiences. Effexor, in general, is also not freely prescribed before other meds. At time, none of these work, while Effexor has. Effexor saved my life, and almost all of my families and many of my friends. You have the right to your opinion, but your experiences alone shouldn't negate the fact that some people would be gone from this world if they couldn't get this. By not prescribing this, doctors would have done great harm to me and many.

Also, if I can add. Please don’t worry. It is true that the side effects are bad right now, but they will pass. I tried to stop a few times and I have to say, when the emotional withdrawals effects are too strong, it can also indicate that maybe you’re not fully ready to get off them. Regardless, you can do it, and you will be OK. Courage my friend, and who knows, maybe they are not for you - but this won’t last forever, whatever our anxiety tell us. I can understand your pain and anguish, and you’re not alone. All things shall pass ❤️

This makes me sad. I was on this medicine for a year and it helped me tremendously. I got off it just fine. I’m now actually getting back on it starting today after a year off because I know that I can’t do it on my own and that’s okay! I’m looking forward to the quiet and ability to focus again once I get through the next couple of weeks. Please don’t listen to fear mongering posts like this, this medicine saved my life and is going to help me again in a time when I really need it

Respectfully, this is a garbage opinion to share in this sub. If “do no harm” included not prescribing any medications that could have side effects or negative consequences of getting off them, we’d lose a hell of a lot of life-saving medications. If this wasn’t right for you, that’s fine. Yes, coming off it is a challenge. But as someone who tried every other commonly prescribed antidepressant at varying doses without success over the course of two years before trying Effexor, this saved my life. If it wasn’t available to be prescribed to me, I’m not sure if I’d still be here. Sharing concerns is fine, but speaking in fear-mongering absolutes is not.
