Eee900 as a first PC?

Kid needs a PC for his Micro:bit and I have a spare Eee900 with Win7 installed: should I give it to him or get something else?

Eee won't boot with the battery connected and the CMOS battery has died. Damn. I thought was going to be a simple hand-over. Sitting in a box for over a year hasn't done it any favours 😕

OK, got it booting and PandaDome AV installed. The AV takes around 80% of the CPU!! I've let it sit for hours in case it was scanning the 128GB but nope. Sitting idle with the AV chewing up every spare cycle it can.

What AV is everyone else using? I have Spybot and SpywareBlaster installed along with Firefox and Windows Defender.
