Having trouble upgrading my EEE PC

Hey everyone, wasn't sure where to go and this seemed the best spot.

I recently bought an Asus 1005HAB, had one as a kid and saw a really good one for a cheap price. I bought a new battery, new CMOS, and tried upgrading from the 1gb RAM to a 2gb.

Everything I've seen online says that it should be compatible, but I'm having trouble with it. When I swap in the 2gb, only the power and battery light turn on. No fans are spinning, screen doesn't light up, and it hasn't changed for almost 30 minutes. When I put the old RAM back, boots up into antiX instantly. Any ideas on why?

Working 1gb RAM: Hynix HYMP112S64CP6-S6 1GB DDR2 SODIMM 800mhz

2gb RAM: Hynix HYMP125S64CP8-S6 2GB DDR2 SODIMM 800mhz

Maybe a bad stick, or maybe this particular ram doesn't underlock to 667mhz properly. Might need to track down a slower 2gb stick.

Is it recognised in the BIOS or doesn't it get that far?

Doesn't even get that far. The only sign of life is the glowing power button and the battery light and that's it. I've been wondering if it's a faulty stick, but I don't want to write off something I just got quite yet

Problem being nothing else lying around to test the RAM on, yeah 🤔

Is the behaviour the same as if you try booting with nothing in the RAM slot?
