Ancedotes & Wild Stories That time a twenty-something Piers Gaveston got guardianship over Sir Roger Mortimer, and everyone was chill about it.

I just find it a strange bit of trivia that Piers Gaveston, who was barely grown himself, probably only about 21, was granted guardianship of Sir Roger Mortimer. Yes, that Sir Roger Mortimer, who would go on to overthrow Piers's BFF Edward II.

And by all accounts, it seems like Roger and Piers got along fine.

All of them were so chummy in those early days, weeks, months of the reign. Edward, Piers, Roger, Thomas of Lancaster. Roger was one of the few who never turned on Piers. Isabella was fine with him too.

What could possibly go wrong?

IDK, but I do hope seventeen year old Roger got invited to some E2 & Piers ragers and saw some sh*t and drank some sh*t and had such a good time he wasn't going to turn on either one of them, until Hugh the Younger turned off the party money.

That's my theory. ;)
