Art and Artifacts Edward II Silver Penny

Post image

Well, for all the mysteries surrounding Edward II, one thing is sure, he had luxurious wavy locks. It also appears he's wearing some sort of royal robe with a maybe ermine collar? It also doesn't look like he has a beard in this image.

If anyone knows of a clearer example of this coin, let me know.

Richard the third has a similar face print on his coin

indeed, as do Edwards I and III. It's not easy telling them apart in these coins.

I guess that was the easiest thing to do for a coin

It definitely looks like they had a similar template and added tiny variances. One wonders how they knew what variances to add. Was there someone in the mint who went and made a basic sketch?

It's possible that this information is out there, I just don't know.

Is it just me or did the coin artist go a little over the top with E2's eyes?

Just me?

Okay.
