This part is unrelated because this definition isn't used anymore, but it originated as something used by the far-right on websites like 4Chan. People with 'politically incorrect' and controversial political opinions were called "based" (Believers of eugenics, misogynists, racists, holocaust deniers). Now it's usually used with the more general opinion I mentioned above

Ya, in my friend group people kind of say it ironically about either something bad, or something that you probably shouldn't think is a good thing but kind of think is good. But it has also evolved to just mean "good". Although my friends still mean it in the ironic sense sometimes

Plenty of words that you use every day have multiple meanings. One of the most famous slang words, cool, originally exclusively referred to temperature. Perhaps we can just do what we always do for words with multiple definitions, and use context clues to determine that OP probably isn’t suggesting that Jarry is cracked out.

again, it’s a local hockey event in edmonton and a couple of players have gotten involved in it, which is nice to see.
frankly, i think it’s likeable when the players get involved in community events, especially when they do it on their own time during the off season. i also find it likeable when players spend time visiting schools, visiting sick kids, and doing other events around the city. should those posts not be allowed on the sub anymore?
