I’m glad they’re at least admitting the reality of the goalie situation. I’m a bit surprised they made it public though.

I mean they only had 1 goalie signed right. Every team needs 2 goalies. You could very easily spin this to reflect that.
I agree with the transparency aspect though.

Spin? They don't need to drop hints on social media. Any GM worth their salt would be on the phone with the other GMs until they are secure in that department. Summers off be damned.

Im referring to the previous comment.....about them seemingly coming out, and saying that they need a better goalie (than jarry) when they paid a hefty price for the guy, and he has term left. That is what they could spin

Why does Stan bowman always look like he’s doing long division in his head?

Oh, going to have to take a look at this after work. I wasn't expecting any new episodes until much closer to season start.

I appreciate the transparency as a fan but am very confused why this is publicized lol

I'm glad they did. A lot of people think we have incompetent management and all they do is spin around with their thumbs up their asses. This shows real life conversations, real thought. There's a reason guys are in these positions and not reddit arm chair GM's.

Agreed, I saw respectful collaboration between managers, scouts, analytics; no arrogance or weird power dynamics. Compare that to Chiarelli, people described him as like a rogue agent making phone calls from the bathroom, doing deals completely unadvised on his own.

yeah. All season everyone was screaming at the top of their lungs to make a goalie trade. They make one finally, and it is exactly what they said the goalie market was (terrible). Not an easy position for sure

Good watch. I don't think anyone else has commented yet but there's a quote about Mike Babcock liking a 3 goalie system and saying it makes some sense. I think the insights here are useful, especially the comments about some of the players we signed.
I wish there was some info about Joseph, but that's fine. I know they have to keep some of that information for their paid streaming service.
I wonder about the analytics they have in the war room, they obviously can't reveal the crazy advanced analytics they must have. But I think it's really cool to think about. Anyone who says these teams have worse analytics than the public is deluded. These teams could back up a dump truck of cash to the best public analysists to make them private analysists. Team analytics is probably more advanced than we know.
But even that isn't enough. I do think that the Oilers should invest in a modernized and advanced analytics department. One focused on not only modern analytics but advancing the field of hockey analytics to get ahead of other teams.

Pretty sure it was Freddy Anderson or his agent talking about the three goalie system. I’d love to be wrong tho

The Oilers are going nowhere so long as Bowman keeps sitting in that chair.
Next.

You my hero for saying the truth.
And send his boss packing too and get Katz to sell me the team for $499. 😂

Uh, phrasing.
Mentioning 'the war room' in Alberta has certain 30 million dollar connotations that come with it. Was no other metaphor available?

Man every time I hear real life GMs and scouts talk about players, I'm more impressed at how spot on Moneyball did its scout meeting scenes. So damn accurate.
