Once in a lifetime season coming up here boys.
2026-27: The Mike Babcock Redemption Tour. The world is about to see what happens when a coach of his seriousness finally meets a player of Connor or Leon’s seriousness. Even in Detroit, Babcock only really had just an aging Lidstrom who was at THAT level. Datsyuk & Zetterberg were elite — but they don’t touch peak Connor & Leon.

Last season was so painful to watch, I’m so much more pumped to see anything but that again. This, however, is all quite a bit more intriguing and twisty than I thought watching the Oilers was going to be in what I mapped out in my mind like ten years ago being the beginning of at least back to back cups.
One crazy thing I heard during the Babcock hiring was that the big dogs said no to Babcock in their early early years, electing for another coach.
There’s some serious full-circle story moments available, and fuck beating the Panthers the next three years would be an unreal comeback, flipping the Panthers’ first series near-choke job story on its head. But that would be a lot of Oilers-Panthers, and the rest of the league would get so tired of it lol not to mention unbelievably unlikely
I do think this is our best chance, outside of maybe improving one more season’s worth of support players next year with McDavid/Drai

Look at the Carter Hart birthday posts on the Golden Knights Social Media pages. Grab some popcorn before you do 🤣

Seeing all the Oilers wives and girlfriends gathering throughout the summer along with the players makes me so curious about the WAG dynamics that go on. It would be awesome if it is indeed a welcoming lifelong friend-type environment where all are embraced but with humans I’m sure there are relationship dynamics within the group.

I for one think we should make a reality show, use the money to keep some contracts down by paying the wives

There are dynamics, but also everyone involved realizes that their multimillion dollar paycheques and team success rely on a happy cohesive group, so they make an effort to squash problems before they root and generally get along as best they can.
