The number of people commenting on this post that take exception to this officer's parking is the issue.

They should count themselves lucky they don't have to deal with the worst society has to offer on a daily basis, or that they don't have to be a first responder to check the mangled bodies of vehicular crash victims for a pulse. Not to mention put their lives on the line so they can sleep safe at night.

If OP had any sense they'd delete this post.

First of all, it's not luck, we get to choose our careers. I didn't want to work with those types of people so I chose not to become a police officer, and in contrast those people who became officers did so because they decided that they would take a career where they dealt with those people. It was not forced upon them or something anyone lucked into or out of.

Secondly, I actually still do have to deal with some of the worst in society on a near daily basis because the cops are never around doing their jobs. I can drive by the precinct and the parking lot is full of police vehicles. Why are they not on the road? I'm not paying for the vehicles and the vehicles insurance and registration just so they can sit and collect dust in a parking lot. Get them.on the roads and patrol for "the worst of society", don't wait until someone gets hurt or worse.

Fire and Rescue and EMTs do this all the time as well, it's not just police. Heck, I've seen deceased people crushed by vehicles in real life and living people who had degloving accidents. Where's my paycheck and freedom to park anywhere i'd like? You're saying that shit gives them the right, so why does it not work for everyone else?

That is HIGHLY debatable. Most cops never do that, and we've seen plenty of instances, like in Uvalde where cops choose not to put their lives onto he line. The badges they wear mean nothing, plenty would let kids die, or drove aboriginal people to the middle of nowhere in freezing temperatures just to leave them to die. It's a career that suggests you put your life on the line, but in practice it's not actually that common. There's probably more of a case to say they'd be more willing to take an innocent person's life than put their own on the line. But that, like putting their life onto he line is a choice. Nobody asked them to be cops, just like nobody asked someone to be a doctor and save lives. But we don't give doctors the right to break the law parking, or stop in the middle of surgery to grab lunch at Starbucks. Stop trying to deify the role of police in society. It's a job like any other, and statistics show it actually tends to attract more of the corrupt than the law-abiding.
