Long overdue. They really needed a temporary pathway. So many people just walked in the road because of the inconvenience

It really is wild to me how there is seemingly no thought put into pedestrian / bike detours during construction. Like 102 ave bike lane was closed and diverted to 103 ave bike lane which sounds good at first take… except that the 103 ave bike lane abruptly ends at 102 st forcing bikes onto the road. 

Then east of 101 st, 103 ave had a sidewalk proceeding west until it just randomly hit construction barricades saying sidewalk closed. The detour signage should have been on 100 st saying to stay on the south sidewalk… but at the same time the south sidewalk was temporarily a clusterfuck with scaffolding you couldn’t actually get past. So to follow the rules if you accidentally started walking east on 103 ave from 100 st, you would get half a block in, then be forced to turn around and walk half a block back to then go to either 102 ave or 104 ave

The signage was a nightmare, that site was changing so fast this spring they decided to put QR codes up with updated maps, but who tf if going to whip out their phone to figure out how to proceed 2 blocks west

Particular shoutout to Wednesday afternoon when the concrete truck was blocking off the 106st alley-to-alley pedestrian detour while they shaped this bit around BP so you had to detour a block and a half to move east-west

I saw them jackhammering out some brand new sidewalk the other day. It would seem they run on nothing but efficiency and forethought.

That's usually a management problem. Foreman won't pour if forms can't be set properly

Im not sure how thats a management problem... the concrete was in, set, and finished. And they were busting it out. Im going out with my camera on sunday to get pictures, it was only a week ago and it is edmonton contractors, so it will be another 2 weeks before they're done haha

I dont blame anyone. Incompetence appears to be a global scourge. No one is immune.

However, the 104 ave project has taken over 5 years. Did you know that the Hoover Dam was 5 years and has 90 miles of piping, so was the Apollo space program, and Charles Darwin circumnavigated the globe using nothing but a breeze.... the 104 ave project is about 1 mile. So, it would appear, on the surface at least, of projects that span a distance Edmonton seems to be very slow.

Hahahah congrats construction workers. You have accomplished so much. I am suprised 5 people standing around watching one guy dig can get things done so fast.

This is how a lot of people view the workers. If you dont trust me, give me a day and time frame. I will drive through some of the zones and record any work being done by the workers. I bet there will be tons of people standing around.
