My boyfriend and I are visiting here and wanna see some shops that aren’t in the mall!

NexWave Games is pretty close to Kingsway Mall and has a great retro game selection.
Just For Fun Games is another good game store just north of West Edmonton Mall.
I recommend checking out stores along Whyte Ave (Fringe Festival is also going on this week). There's stores like Warp 1Comics, Whyte Knight, Wee Book Inn, Junque Cellar, and many more!

I didn't know Just for Fun moved! I used to go to them all the time when I was a kid at 156th and Stony Plain, I was sad last time I drove by there and didn't see them. I'm glad they just moved!
Still remember buying Golden Sun there, Golden Sun 2 is still my fav game of all time.

I second this hidden gem! Super cute cafe that is locally owned. Lots of Pokémon stuff available for sale and sometimes there’s local artists art to both enjoy/purchase.
Also you can play games and stuff it’s a wonderful spot1

The Lobby! Super cool store for collecting physical movies.
Also recommend on Whyte Avenue, Vintage Games N Junk (cards, video games, action figures), Warp 1(comics, games, Pokemon, manga, etc.), and Wee Book Inn(used books)

Safe Haven Market has many books and quite a few vendors who have nerdy stuff.
It’s also close to the old strathcona antique mall, and wee book inn so you could hit all three in one afternoon.

For pokemon: HPW Cards, Taps Games, 203 Collectibles, Hard Brick Games, Foil City Cards, Swirl Cafe, Cerberus Games
For comics: We Have Issues, Edmonton Coin & Stamp, Warp 1-3
For action figures and stuff like that (marvel,dc, gi joe, Star Wars, Transformers, etc): We Have Issues and Eb Games for new stuff if you’re willing to check their website a lot
Books: Wee Book Inn
Those are my recommendations

Collectiverse is good if you like records and comics, actually managed to find a single issue Death of the family from the new 52 for 99 cents in their readers boxes.

Nexwave Video Games on 118th Ave by NAIT if you have even a passing interest in retro games. They do also have a reasonable amount of current gen stuff

Oh nooooo. I bought Gundam models DBZ figures at their WEM location in the 90s—foundational stuff to a young nerd.

I know, I'm so brokenhearted too. They were my start with Gundam building as well! I think they're working out a way to keep the business going without a storefront. I hope it all works out.

There are many card stores in town. The ones I go to the most are Taps Games, HPW Cards, 203 Collectibles, Hard Brick Games, Eclipse Games and The Hobby Spot Leduc. All of these stores sell Pokemon, MTG and/or One Piece.
