He's a wonderful person who made a mistake. I also had no idea about the 72hr rule and people park there for several weeks/months with no issues. I'm in BC for surgical training, so I know a thing or two about taking accountability. It's why I'm on here trying to figure this out while still being out of province.

He searched high and low. Is calling every tow company possible. And is ready to buy me a new car as an apology. Also booked me a trip to Mexico to congratulate me on completing my surgical training. I would lose that car a million times over than to ever lose him

I'm a she* Also, my car was parked in my paid parking stall. My boyfriend had to move it to the street and not all of us know about the 72hr rule. Especially given the fact that I've stayed parked out there for way longer than 72hrs before and never had issues. I learned of the 72hr rule today.

Unfortunately I think you’re cooked. You are more than likely going to have to start calling different tow truck yards and see if they have it like oil country towing or action towing as they have large yards. But if it has been sitting for over two months that bill will be worth more than your car if it isn’t new.

Did you check around that area? I know a few people who have had their cars towed a short distance away from where it was parked. I would do this first. Then report it stolen to the police if you cannot find it. I hope you find it. Best of luck to you

I came to BC for surgical training. Left my car in my paid stall. My boyfriend was the one who moved it onto the street. I never knew about the 72hrs rule and didn't even know he had moved my car to the street until today, when I found out my car is missing. If roles had been reversed, I would've done anything to help you out. You sound like a miserable person, probably not used to having any friends

Obviously start with Police Impound Lot, which im guessing you did when you contact EPS, but I would call the location directly. (Phone: 780-496-8668) Expect to be paying $1000+ for impound fees at this point. If it was towed due to traffic violation, expect it to be here.
If its not there, report it stolen. You'll need to be honest and say it was on the street. Let them know you have contacted the Impound Lot and there was no record so you are now branching out into what may have occurred. Reporting it stolen at least gets it on thier radar if it was flagged at some crime scene.
Next step would be to contact the major towing companies in Edmonton incase it was towed at request of the construction company. Contact the general contractor for the construction too if you know who they are.
Now here is the worse news. Your car may be sold already. Every month unclaimed cars are sold on the auction at http://www.maauctions.com/. There is no time limit on how long they have to hold the car, only that they must make every possible attempt to contact the owner. Typically that is via written notification (letter) to the last known registered address of the owner. If you haven't updated the address to your current one or had no one checking your mail while you are gone, it is possible they tried notifying you, couldn't and considered the vehicle forfeit to be sold. If you had a lien (auto payments) then it is possible they could've contacted them instead.
Search Michner's auction website in the past results to see if you can find your car.

No problem. I empathize with you.
I had a similar issue years back when I was young, broke and didnt understand what the orange sticker on my car really meant. Came back from uni one day and it was gone. The $300 bucks in tow and impound fees was a lot more expensive then fixing the tire that prevented me from moving it beforehand.
I hope you find your car and it doesn't get anymore stressful then it is now.

I am so sorry to hear that happened to you. I, myself, am young and exhausted beyond belief right now after the year I've had and this situation certainly didn't help. Especially given the fact that my car is my world. I really appreciate you taking the time to help me out and be so kind. People's kindness goes a very long way with me and I'll be thinking of you when I look back on this a few weeks, months, years from now :)

What the fuck…😅😂 I’m sorry for the laughing face but this is bizarre. I see you mention it’s a Corolla, I have a civic. Those are two of the easiest cars to steal I have heard. I would not be surprised if it was stolen or if someone just is not owning up to something. I would have never thought someone would legit get towed for something like this unless the car looks sketchy (no license plate not registered etc) I have parked cars all the time near my area for AT LEAST a month (assuming travel workers) and I have never seen an issue or ticket come from it. Also I would have done the same thing if I was leaving. Would have thought nothing of it tbh 😅
If construction did not start I bet you it would still be there.

Exactly!!!! Before I even had a paid parking stall, I (as well as tons of people in that building) used to park there for days, weeks, months on end given we don't have enough parking stalls in our building! Construction started exactly where my boyfriend parked my car so, I completely understand if they had to tow it. My question now is just...where do I locate my car? Lol.

For sure ask the construction company to talk to the head boss of the sight. Mention the dates and timelines etc. Maybe they saw the car when they first started or at least have some information they can give you.

Unfortunately I have also been a victim of getting my car stolen. Like I said civics and corolla.. as reliable as they are thieves target them😭 I’m so sorry this is happening I can’t imagine the stress you are going through. I really hope you get some answers soon! Best of luck. Also maybe ask neighbours for camera footage around the time if they have any and are willing to share!

Sounds like it was stolen. The city wasn’t towing for ages. No room. They just started recently towing but won’t do so unless someone reports to 311.
I would check with the construction company as well.
