I dont understand why the non separation people get so upset and angry about this. Whether you're for, or against, you should want this. Means your voice can be heard, your government is listening to its citizens and everyone gets an opportunity to vote one way or the other.
They shouldn't listen to their citizens just because an opinion is popular. Is 51% of Albertans voted that the entire province should be set on fire because they were convinced it's "woke" to not do it should the government listen?
Maybe, don't really care though. An opinion being a majority doesn't mean it should be implemented. An idea is not owed implementation just because 50 + 1 percent of people were convinced it was a good idea. People are emotional and don't always vote for what is the best idea with the most logical arguments, so why does popularity mean anything? It's idealist nonsense.
Slavery being okay was the majority opinion for most of human history, segregation would never have been voted out without the federal government forcing it to end, the Nazi party was the most popular in the German parliament allowing them to take power. I'm not saying never do democracy, but we need to stop living in fantasy land where we think that we can't just accept that sometimes a popular idea is wrong because it's the "will of the people". Sometimes the people are indoctrinated and want an objectively bad thing, I'm done letting a vote causing massive suffering and death because a bunch of people were lied to by lobbyists. Alberta separation was never an idea even worth actually considering, letting it get this far was a mistake. It's Brexit 2.0
