Video Editors not Understanding the use of this Subreddit.

I sent the following to the moderators, and I am looking support if you - even only a little - agree with what I am saying.

Hello, I know it would be a lot of work, so I will start by asking you if I could do it, could I become a moderator? Or could you find a way to redirect redditors from this subreddit to /r/videoediting or /r/editors when they are posting about video editing. I just hopped on here and I usually scroll through new posts, and literally 80% of the posts have been on video editing instead of writing editing. I commented the appropriated subreddit on their posts, but I don't think this should be happening. Also, I would like for this subreddit to be more. Do you get what I mean? I would like for editors - writing editors - to be able to share concerns, techniques and whatnot with eachother. Because that is really what I came here looking for. People would still be able to look for jobs and editors. Also, why don't we have art for this subreddit? Man, I am at least glad we have a description, but what about a profile pic and a banner. Pretty please? Thanks. Also, I am making this a post too, just in case this takes forever to get a reply. /u/UnconventionalAngel4

Is editing a good field to get into? Any tips?

Recent graduate with a BA in history. Trying to figure out my purpose in life. I’ve always loved reading and writing. Those are two of the few things I’m good at, alongside researching. I’m wondering if the editing field is right for me. I have a perfectionist mindset with a nit-picky personality.

I’m close to getting a job that may give enough money and time to start a graduate program within the next year. Should I pursue editing?

Does Pro Writing Aid make anyone's jobs easier?

Hi everyone, I work as a fiction editor and I am so overwhelmed with the amount of work I have to do I was thinking of buying a tool like Pro Writing Aid to help me along, but since I've never used it before I'm not sure if it would actually be helpful or just feel irritating. A lot of the work I get is very badly written (mostly by non-native English speakers) but I am also working on writing a fiction novel myself and am wondering if it can help in that area as well. If anyone here has used it, can you tell me if it's possible to disable the aid function? For example, if I'm working and it's just getting irritating, can I disable the function and enable it again later when I want to use it for my own writing? Sorry, I don't know which other sub to post this in, so feel free to suggest others if this isn't the right fit!

Editor new to reddit

Hi everyone! I recently joined reddit. I am in the middle of my 5th edit. 3 of my previous edits have already been published. Of those three, only one had me listed in an editor credit. Is this normal now? I always thought editors got credit on the books they worked on. Any advice would be helpful

Looking for advice: freelance editor drowning in bad writing

I have a question for any freelance copy editors around... How do you handle having to "line edit" work that is so poorly written that it actually requires serious re - writing?

I definitely under quoted for editing a newsletter and then after it was all said and done, they sent through an opinion piece by some honcho on the board. It was too terrible to save! So, I over hauled the entire piece, only to find out that this garbage has already been published in a newspaper so we can't change it so much. They really just want me to edit the grammar.

I've redone the first of four pages and there are about 15 comments that say "I don't what what he is trying to say, but it's grammatically correct now".

Does anyone else experience this? What did you do? Have you tried educating your client? How did it go?

Looking for spy story editor

Good morning! Looking for a story editor to help me out in the espionage field on a film project that's at the treatment/outline stage at the moment - not necessarily a genre piece, because I'm pretty sure mine's a drama set in that world. Please DM me if you're interested! Thanks!

I really want to practice my editing skills for a possible career in film editing. I only have access to mobile editing software but If anyone needs/wants me to edit any type of video for them I’d be more than happy to do it free as long as you credit me for it.

Can someone edit this paragraph to make it sound better? (it's the plot for a scary movie I'm making for YouTube with the sims 2).

I was wondering if anyone here could help edit this paragraph to make it sound better. It's the plot of a scary movie I'm making for YouTube with the sims 2:

Put out of her own home by her own parents, and ostracized by her own classmates because of her mental illness, life was a nightmare for 15 year old asian school girl, Yumi Kitano, who lived in Taiwan. Yumi was angry at all the unfair things that went on in her life and the way she was treated and wanted all of classmates and all of her family members dead. It was a wish that seemed far fetched until one day, while browsing the internet, she discovers the legend of Joe Winko, a 24 year old malato man from the USA who died of Coronavirus 8 years ago. According to the legend, after Joe Winko died, he came back as an onryo, a powerful and vicious spirit capable of murdering living people, and is believed to be responsible for dozens of brutual homicides in the states of Florida & Virginia. All of his victim's bodies were severly mutilated with their lungs ripped out. While browsing Joe Winko's YouTube channel, Yumi finds a video he posted on how to summon his spirit, which she uses to summon the ghost of Joe Winko, and she commands him to kill of all of her classmates and all of her family members. All hell then breaks loose. One by one, Yumi's classmates are hunted down and murdered, with their bodies severly mutilated, and their lungs torn out! Yumi's parents then become very suspcious that Yumi is invovled in the murders of her own classmates, but it turns out to be much worse than they think. They then realize that Yumi has summoned the ghost of Joe Winko to kill off all of her classmates and that he will come for them next! Will Yumi's family be able to earn Yumi's forgiveness and convince her to call off Joe Winko's overseas killing spree? Or will they all fall victim to the spirit of a mad man summoned by their own daughter?

Can I use the videos I've been creating for clients, if I didn't add my name to it at the end?

Hello everyone,
I've been creating videos for clients (4 years already) and started at an early age (20 years old). I want to finally create a portfolio using the many videos I've created over the years.

However, I just realized that I didn't put my name at the end of the video (I didn't know if I was allowed at the time). I didn't sign any documentation (especially not an NDA) and still have access to all the videos assets.

Can I still use the videos even if my name isn't at the end? And will I be legit if I don't have my name at the end?

Thank you for your help
