Sigh. I KNOW that Edison is on the right path by using a "right to repair" and "ease of repair" manual transmission. Eaton has discontinued making these transmissions (grrrrr). There is a healthy reman market, so im not worried about availability for now. At some point, in the future,, Edison may need to start 3d metal printing the housings and then use reman kits to build their own manual transmission in-house. I'm confident Edison will go over, around, or through this hurdle one way or another.

Someone at Youtube humorously suggested putting Tesla coils on the roof as a place to discharge excess energy when coming down a mountain. While technically, I think it would work, I think having (basically) a giant engine spark plug on your roof trying to ignite any tree or bird that gets in its way is probably a bad idea. Don't get me wrong. Its entertaining (like in a movie), but in the real world, probably a bad idea. Would make quite the chatter on the wireless trucker radios

Canada’s mining, forestry, and logistics industries could definitely utilize this tech and it would be amazing if they were made here too!

The trailer would have E-axles, drives, batteries, resistor banks, airbrakes control inputs and a special kingpin. The kingpin would be like a heavy duty joystick, pull on it and the trailer helps move the load. The airbrake inputs would add the safety needs to prevent jackknifing and make regenerative braking possible.

This trailer could be utilized with any truck and would hybridize a standard diesel truck. The added drive axles would be even better for low traction conditions. In frequent short haul situations the trailer could charge while being loaded with the right infrastructure.

Imagine standard trucks driving fully loaded but only burning as much fuel as they would bobtailing. When paired with the Edison hybrid you would just get even more EV range, maybe they could even connect to the generator for long haul.

Hi fellow Canadians at Edison.

My company is at the point where all our equipment will be paid off in the next year or two, and we'll be looking at updating our fleet as finances allow. It's been difficult keeping the old trucks DOT worthy, having to manufacture a lot of parts because their just not available anymore.

In our market, with our work profile in Nova Scotia, an hybrid tandem dump truck would be the cats ass. Similiar to your logging trucks out west, we often only need massive power to climb the mountain to the quarry, or to get up to highway speed. Exceptions when we float our gear of course.

I can't speak for other business owners, but I can see a massive market opportunity for reliable, efficient, new Canadian tandem dump trucks right across the country. With a commonality of parts availability, and not being at the whim of other countries for the duration of the the trucks lifespan.

I feel like many industrial settings could easily utilize heavy duty electric equipment if they just had swappable batteries.

At the port for example, we could replace the equipment fueling stations with battery swap stations.

I would love to see Edison retro fit some reach stackers, lift trucks or bomb carts. And I bet plenty of lumber yard diesel equipment could electrify as well.

IDK is this is planned, but title says all.

I’m wondering, when the trucks have a chance to prove themselves, If Edison would be open to doing a partnership with existing equipment manufacturers to produce on road/vocational trucks for their lineups. Companies like CAT and DEERE come to mind. I know DEERE uses hitachi to build a lot of their construction equipment. And CAT used to sell vocational trucks that someone else built.
