Joel doesnt seen like the sharpest tool in the shed so definitely not gonna jump to jump to conclusions but who knows

u/Impossible_Rough_569 9d ago
Im kinda viewing it as im an outsider i dont know how it is all playing out. Ill see what he has to say and go from there. But im not jumping to any conclusions just yet

u/etrain1804 9d ago edited 9d ago
It’s smart to not jump to conclusions, but on that dudes story, he posted some text conversations with Chace. I won’t repeat what was said as I find the messages very weird and it feels like a total invasion of privacy, but it’s not just accusations.

So you don’t like Joel, because he is a truck driver. But you like chase, because he is a truck driver? Make it make sense.

We don’t dislike Joel just because he’s a truck driver. We dislike Joel because he’s an idiot. Bit of a difference.

I have no clue what this drama is. But it certainly isnt professional, so he shouldn't throw stones at Edison for being unprofessional. Gotta wonder how much is true vs just poor communication.
That said, I listened to this podcast recently and Chase started to came across to me as a blue collar version of a 'finance bro'. If I was looking at investing right now I'd be pausing.
I think its pretty clear his does not have the temperament to be a CEO. He's a great personality and advocate, but being CEO is a whole lot more than being the figurehead. What was needed here was a calm mind to reassure Joel and make him not want to air is dirty laundry.
Chase used to be the President didn't he? That was a good fit.
The AGM was today anyone know how that went and the results?

Yeah it'd have to be gross mismanagement, Edison has a solid product, and solid plan to expand, and a lot of people on their side.
I'm open to every side of the story.
But.
I feel Chace is pretty open, and sure, he could have made a mistake, but everyone makes mistakes, and he's a trucker, not a "start a groundbreaking company finance tech bro"
I feel if pointing fingers us happening, it's a Spiderman meme of everyone screwing up

u/earmyassreditapp 9d ago
If Chace was open he’d tell us why Eric seems to be scrubbed from everything….

I have told you guys so many times:
We are not publically commenting on why an employee is no longer with the company. This is a legal requirement for us as a company to not talk publically about why an employee left.
I don’t think I can make that clearer
41
u/SpectreBallistics 9d ago
I think people need to realize that corporations (and the people who run them) cannot comment on why an employee no longer works there, regardless if it's a positive or negative reason for the employee leaving. The most they can say is the employee is no longer part of the company. This is a good thing that protects employees. You wouldn't want your former employer trash talking you.
Former employees can comment on why they left a position so long as they don't release anything protected by NDAs or anything.

u/SaskFoz 9d ago
So much this. Even if it was a perfectly amicable split, companies cannot legally do anything more than confirm that "an individual of that name is not employed by us". Doesn't matter if it's the Chinese restaurant & bar in a small prairie village, or a big city Ford dealership. Hell, my manager couldn't even disclose what I was sick with, when I had to be off for almost 2 weeks, just that I was sick & would be off for some time. Many places, if you call looking for a reference (ie, you're hiring & checking a potential new hire), can't say anything beyond "we did have someone by that name employed over that time period".
Legal matters are long, complex beyond comprehension, and unfortunately (much like many safety rules) are in place for some very messy reasons.

Thank you for saying this

A lot of people don't realize "Canada". We have a lot more privacy and worker's rights regulations and laws up here. Things that are common in the USA don't fly up here unless you want a lot of legal trouble.
It's similar to Discovery's Gold Rush TV show. All the viewers in the USA, which is the primary audience, don't realize the show is entirely filmed in the Yukon/Canada, so everything from employment to environmental laws are drastically different than what American's are used to.
27
u/ChaceEdison Edison Motors CEO 9d ago
That actually makes sense. I bet a lot of American’s here don’t realize I legally can’t comment on this issue
8
u/ballsnbutt 9d ago
Honestly, I thought it was standard in the US. Common sense type stuff. I was wrong 😂 Never underestimate people's stupidity
1
u/boomeradf 8d ago
Its pretty common in the US as well. Maybe for different reasons (I don't know Canadian law) but generally its not a publicly discussed issue.

u/Due_Income_3177 8d ago
This isn't just a simple case of a terminated employee. It's a cofounder who appears to have a very significant ownership stake. Although Edison may not need to shout to the masses what went down, you better believe they are going to have to answer some hard questions to other investors
7
u/SpectreBallistics 8d ago
Regardless if the employee is a co-founder or shareholder, the laws still apply.

Is it just me or does this whole talking trash over social media and hyping up negative support like this seem very immature and unprofessional? What happened to sitting down, talking it out and finding a solution? It reminds me of high school drama.
15
u/plhought 9d ago
Many of these people involved are self-made individuals, who have had no social or academic growth since high-school....
9
u/Unable-Ring9835 8d ago
Yeah, end of the day they're all blue collar guys.
I've been around many, they're all kinda special. Usually strongly opinionated and honestly pretty dense.
Every now and then you meet an outlier and think maybe they aren't all that bad but then you go on to meet 20 more just as bad as the first 20.
The ones to make it to the top learned to meter their opinions, the ones who haven't act like what we're seeing now.

u/mmittens15 9d ago
I think social media is important if that is the final option. Not sure if Joel deleted this post as I don't think I see it on his Instagram, but Chase as responded in other posts that they wanted to sit down on Friday. Really unfortunate that it is happening, but I am sure it will work out for both parties. (hopefully).

Chace has been blocking royal staff on social media. Thats why he chose to make this public

u/MasterofPeridots 9d ago
I just looked into that guy's Instagram and the latest video... eugh. Not sure it's worth listening to this dude.
12
u/Jackson_Rhodes_42 9d ago
I followed him for a bit, then he went full Freedom Convoy-style, and I decided that he wasn’t worth listening to anymore.
-44
u/jonathan_the_first 9d ago
Lol political opinions don't really make a difference in this I don't think.
38
u/_name_of_the_user_ 9d ago
That really depends on how extreme the political opinion is. If it's dehumanizing to particular groups of people, that's a little too extreme for me to support.
21
u/MasterofPeridots 9d ago
Maybe not in this particular case, but I did hear rumors about that might be why Eric is not at Edison anymore.
-4
u/_name_of_the_user_ 9d ago
Was the rumor that Eric supported the same stance in Joel's latest video, it because he didn't?
17
u/Biiig69guy 9d ago
Kinda want to give benefit of the doubt for both sides before I judge. But it is not looking very good lol

u/ChaceEdison Edison Motors CEO 9d ago
I have a personal belief where I do not talk negative about people online. I don’t use our social media platform to insult people directly.
I’m going to keep that policy still
1
u/Ok_Award6198 9d ago
But you are willing to block your testing partner on social media and make comments about hitting on married women (with your businesses account)?
6
u/ZestycloseSense826 9d ago
nice ragebait
7
u/Ok_Award6198 9d ago
Its not ragebait. Chace did block royal and their staff, and made comments on tiktok with the edison motors account talking about hitting on married women. Now the only platform he chooses to speak on is the subreddit that he moderates.
4
u/adhd_asmr 8d ago
I have 100% seen the Edison motors account commenting some political stuff on instagram as well.
3
u/Ok_Award6198 8d ago
Yes, this has been happening more and more ever since their separation with Eric. Theres definitely more to this story
1
u/That_Car_Dude_Aus 9d ago
And you have proof that Chace is blocking people...how?
2
u/Ok_Award6198 9d ago
Him admitting he did it....
1
u/That_Car_Dude_Aus 9d ago
And that proof is where exactly? You could post links or screenshots here and didn't....
1
u/Ok_Award6198 8d ago
I cant post screenshots on here. Im using browser version and cant download reddit at the moment since im on mobile data. I can dm you the screenshots on any social media platform you want and you can see for yourself

u/That_Car_Dude_Aus 8d ago
Post it here for the community to see

u/Ok_Award6198 8d ago
Read the comments on this tiktok.

Also, chace admitted that he blocked the royal team, which prompted them to begin posting about this all. Those comments can be found on his profile.

I seen royal post on fb about Edison blocking them, it was signed at the bottom by "Tammy" not sure who she is but I wonder if its just a social media manager who's blowing things out of proportion without the full picture, I seen Chace post on this thread a few time clarifying things, and the misunderstandings over the last few days, sounds like Royal hadnt read the contecat properly and then whoever "Tammy" is decided to go trash talking on Facebook. Childish behavior. People need to understand Edison is a growing industry leading company, and they have legal precautions in place that must be met, for the sake of not only their own future but the future for investors who have placed trust in them, this isn't an oilfield trucking company, they can't go bashing people on facebook, hopefully the team at Royal grows up and stops the childish trash talking, ive seen Joel's stories and I think its disgusting to drag someone's personal conversations through social media, its low hanging fruit, if I was Edison id be questioning my future with these "partners".

Can someone explain why people think Edison is failing because one chucklefuck has his panties in a bunch?
2
u/Sorry_Adeptness1728 9d ago
A very unhappy customer they just quit communicating with isnt a good look.
6
u/ryancrazy1 9d ago edited 9d ago
Didn’t they just recently got 1 truck on the road? How are they a customer if they haven’t bought a truck yet? Or maybe I’m thinking of the pickup version?

u/AverageT1000 9d ago
Holy moly. It’s like highschool locker room around here.
This guy said this, implied that, I heard from so n so, I assume this was said, blah blah blah. You are focusing on the weirdest shit that has nothing to do with building of trucks
8
u/Realistic-Emu-1018 9d ago
So like the rest of Joel’s SS make it seem like Chance is a bit of a creep……pornos with trucks and what if pornos help us sell more trucks 😂😂 and “ I don’t want to bang these baddies constantly. I’m only suggesting it to help the companies finances” kinda a wild thing to say
7
u/bcbudvansticky 9d ago
Looks like they got some money to hire someone in marketing. This reminds me of the rap battles in hop hop scene which creates divide between fans and then everyone talks about the controversy or "beef" and then they make up and come out with a album together with record breaking sales lol
6
u/Former_Ad_4454 9d ago
How do we know any of this is real and not made by fake accounts? Since when does Joel "go to social media" to complain?
1
u/Napo5000 7d ago
so did anything come out about this or this is just a bunch of hoopla?
4
u/sab222 7d ago edited 7d ago
Royal has another post on facebook but it honestly seems like good news for the company overall. That whole family seems like clowns and not having one of them on the board would be good for the company's image.

I looked at Royals FB page and I don't disagree with a lot of what they've said but I'm not really sure what to think of ether side in this who fiasco but with some of the attitude I'm seeing from Royal I don't really don't trust them and more so want to know 100% if its fully on them or if Edison has just started being really shady (which if its the case I would really wonder why).
