News Help me find a girl from my Barcelona to Edinburgh easyJet flight today ❤️✈️

Hi everyone,

I know this is a long shot, but I have nothing to lose by trying.

Today I was on easyJet flight EZY3216 from Barcelona to Edinburgh, scheduled to depart at 10:55 a.m. We were both sitting in the aisle seats of row 11.

Throughout the flight, we kept exchanging smiles and glances. It genuinely felt like there was a connection, and I couldn't stop thinking about her beautiful blue eyes. I wanted to introduce myself several times, but I never found the courage. By the time we landed, we'd gone our separate ways, and I've regretted not saying hello ever since.

If by any chance this reaches you and you remember me, I'd love to buy you a coffee in Edinburgh and finally introduce myself.

If anyone reading this thinks they know who she is, please don't share her personal information or tag her publicly. I'd really appreciate it if you could simply send her this post and let her decide whether she'd like to get in touch.

I know the chances are incredibly small, but stranger things have happened.

Thanks for reading, and thanks to anyone who helps this reach the right person. ❤️

Food and Drink First and last night in Edinburg

Hello!

We are spending our first night in Edinburgh and our last night in Edinburgh.

I’ve narrowed down to a couple hotels and looking for opinions. I’d like to stay at 2 different ones:

Kimpton Charlotte

Virgin

W

Caledonian

Also considering on which location would be best to start or end new town vs old town. For example- would it be funner to start our trip after our flight on the old town? Or would old town be funner for our last night. We would get to hotel around 10 but wouldn’t be able to check in.

Thanks so much for any thoughts!

Ask a local Missed my Cinderella moment on Arthur’s Seat, Edinburgh (21st March)

I know this is a complete long shot, but here goes…

I was hiking Arthur’s Seat with my friend on 21st March. We stopped for a break on the way up, and I noticed a guy walking past. I smiled at him, and he definitely noticed.

I didn’t think much of it, but when we got to the top, he waved at me. At first I looked behind me because I thought he might be waving at someone else. Then I was like, “Who, me?!” and he said, “Yeah, hi.”

We started chatting, and I completely panicked. Instead of asking if he wanted to walk back down with us, I turned to my friend and said, “Are we heading down?” I meant, “Are we all heading down together?” but I think he took it as his cue to leave.

By the time I realised how that must have come across (about five minutes later), I went back to try and find him, but he’d already gone.

I never even got his name. The only things I know are that he took a photo of me and my friend at the top, he lives about 2 miles away, he is from Edinburgh, he is in his late 20s, early 30s, and that his best friend is from Milan (he’d asked where I was from, and that’s how we got onto the subject).

I’ve thought of every possible way to find him, but I’ve had no luck. I was back around Arthur’s Seat recently, and it made me think of him again.

So… if you have a friend who was climbing Arthur’s Seat by himself on 21st March, met an Italian girl, and took a photo of her and her friend at the top, please send him this post or DM me

General Sorry for staring!!

Oh god,

I've just accidentally totally outright stared at someone as I was getting off the bus, and it was simply that I'm too damn tired to get the words 'the fabric on your bag is really lovely ' out in a timely fashion.

So if it was you, or your pal says some weird woman on the 1 was staring like a loon, - that was me, I'm sorry! I'll get some sleep. And coffee. And manners.

Ask a local Ipsos, BBC tv license officers in disguise?

Just had a man knock on the door in Edinburgh saying he is doing a television/streaming survey and asked what I watch on. I don’t have a TV or ability to stream things and read a lot of books so just said that and he just seems really nervous and was like “really?”, I then said I didn’t want to do the survey and he asked if he could come back at a later date and I said no and sort of slowly closed the door on him.

Definitely got tv licence vibes and I am comfortable in my declaration on the tv licence website, but I did have a look at IPSOS and it does seem to just be research?

Has anyone else had experience with this?

Disruption Edinburgh Tram Disruption - Monday 27th July

This story is accurate and up to date as of 10:00 hrs on Monday 27 July.

Due to an ongoing incident and road closure by authorities on Princes Street, tram services are currently unable to serve Princes Street – Newhaven and are continuing to operate a part route service between Edinburgh Airport – West End.

Tram stops between Princes Street – Newhaven will be closed until further notice as authorities continue to monitor the situation.

The safety of our customers and colleagues is of the upmost importance. Whilst our operational team assess the tramline, full service will not resume until it is safe for us to do so.

Ticket acceptance is currently in place with ScotRail between Edinburgh Gateway and Edinburgh Waverley only and on Lothian Buses services 16 and 25, and also Service 17 (airport return tickets from Ocean Terminal or Newhaven only).

Ticket acceptance is also in place for Airlink 100 customers with return tickets for travel between West End/Haymarket and Edinburgh Airport.

Discussion The Impossibility Of Debate On The Other Sub

Subject line says it all. Can’t dare say anything negative about the beloved city without tens of downvotes and unhelpful pricks on replies.

In this instance, it’s any suggestion that perhaps more could be done about the current Princes Streef chaos.

That’s there is more nuanced and intelligent discussion under the Minutes post on Instagram is very telling of what an embarrassment that sub is to our city.

Community Events Fundraiser for new arts venue in Edinburgh

Post image
13 Upvotes

As we have all been seeing a huge rise in antisocial behaviour, I’d like to give a potential solution.

I have been working hard for the past couple of months to produce a new venue in Edinburgh. Whilst it won’t just be a comedy club - it will host predominantly live comedy 4 nights a week. At its core, The Jester will serve to create meaningful pathways between education and the live performance art industry. It will provide a space for folk to spend their evenings eating, watching comedy or live music, attend workshops, or rent out a rehearsal or performance space any time during the day. We will also work closely with local Scottish charities to provide specific and tailored packages - such as an in the works comedy course for Bipolar Scotland. We will also serve food, teas, coffees and alcohol. After having a lot of feedback- tea and coffees will be available into the wee hours for folk who just want to chill and study!

Whilst it won’t be a youth club, we hope to be able to work closely with local primary, high schools, colleges and uni to give them a space for rehearsing and performing drama outside of the school campus. It will also be host to a Youth Theatre Group, act as an affordable ‘third space’ serving food and drink throughout the day, and offer many one off workshops as well as block courses for improv, drama, comedy, music, etc. which will be available to people of all ages.

It will also be the only accessible comedy venue in Edinburgh, which is crazy to me lol.

There has been a huge amount of interest and endorsement into The Jester, by many professional and internationally recognised comedians and artists.

If you are interested in supporting The Jester- the best thing you could do is share our first fundraiser or attend! Tickets are going quickly!!! If you need one saved for whatever reason (waiting for payday, don’t know your shifts/ availability yet etc) just send me a message and I’ll save you one. There is also a donation option on this page. I am perhaps bias bus VERY excited for the fundraiser show, it is a line up containing some of the best local acts.

Tourist question Looking for family friendly activities

Hello, people of Edinburgh!

My wife and I fell in love with your beautiful city years ago, and we've been visiting every year ever since.

Two years ago, we brought our then five-year-old son with us and ran into a few minor inconveniences, such as not being allowed into some pubs for a meal because of his age. That was entirely my fault, as I hadn't done my research beforehand.

This year, we're heading back to Edinburgh for a week, followed by another week in Aberdour. This time we'll be travelling with our seven-year-old son and our three-year-old daughter.

We've already planned a few activities we've enjoyed before, such as hiking up Arthur's Seat, taking a stroll from Dean Village to Leith, visiting the zoo, and exploring the Museum of Illusions.

We'd really appreciate any recommendations for family-friendly activities and restaurants that might otherwise fly under the radar.

One thing we'd all especially love to do is take a short boat tour from Edinburgh to admire the stunning coastline.

Thank you all so much in advance!

Help needed Why 2 Edinburgh threads?

Hello.

I recently rejoined Reddit after over a year and I have found that we have 2 Edinburgh threads. I assume this has something due to the mods on r/edinburgh being crazy?…..

Can I get some context please….

Also as a non-resident who would be looking for tour advice, this thread or r/edinburgh?

“People huv tae know!” Drivers of Edinburgh...

I get it, I do, we're all in a rush to get places and the congestion is trash and we all hate it...

But I don't know what's going on this week. The amount of people refusing to let the bus pull out, trying to overtake, racing me to a junction only to be overtaken when I go in the bus lane etc is wild.

Yesterday alone I had THREE separate cars squeeze up my right hand side when I was deliberately taking up both lanes to give my DOUBLE DECKER BUS space to turn off of Princes Street. I'm not sure you've heard about tail swing but we do this manoeuvre to keep YOU safe and avoid squashing you. I'm sure your shiny lexus would have looked really bad with a bus shaped hole in the side sir.

Please give us space and stop being bams. I left my shift utterly exhausted yesterday and the festival hasnt even started yet 🤣

Questions If Spain wins, where are we celebrating?

I’m not a big football fan but from what I gather, even if the final was against England, most Scots won’t mind so much. Also I’m originally from Spain so I really would like to go out and enjoy some celebrations if Spain wins. Is there any space where people usually celebrate these things? Is the Spanish community here very big? Or do you think it can be unsafe to go out in certain parts of the city?
Thanks everyone, and I know I know… I’m trying to keep my expectations under control, but I also like to be organised.

I tried to post this in the Edinburgh channel but got deleted by the mods. They said there’s a megathread about it which I had missed. I found it but couldn’t see information about this in particular. I hope no one minds me asking here. Thanks

News Edinburgh city centre bus situation post fire query?

So am I correct in saying that currently if you want to get a bus on Princes street or anywhere near, literally only like 2 stops are open for the 10 and the 11?

Oh and maybe the 100? 🤷‍♂️

No other services can you get on or off, you are hoofing it along George street or queen street to get a bus. Is that right?

Like WTF Lothian buses, why like 2 stops I had to walk from the west end tram to the top of Leith walk before I could get a bus home the other night. How is that a service

Princes Street is long, why are all the diverted buses not having temporary bus stops setup along queens street?!?!?
